pests What kind of bug egg is this? (picture edition)

I found a few of these, no idea what they are, I plucked like 3 of them before considering they might actually be a good bug.

That's definitely a DINOSAUR EGG!

I killed like 5 more eggs but the weird part is I've never seen any moths around and I check my plants only at night
 
good news is after checking all my plants those 5 were the only ones I found, I'll spray neem oil on everything tomorrow, diatomaceous earth won't do anything for hornworm eggs will it?

Ive caught one in the act of laying eggs.... if I remember right, it was either right after dusk before it got dark enough to need a light or much later in the night with a bright moon.... and it wasnt attracted at all to my light....

I would say it was more closer to dusk than much later into the night, I just caught two more about an hiur ago....
