ALE: A beer that is typically "warm" fermented (65F-70F) and typically has lots of flavor.

Examples are: Stouts, porters, pale ales, IPA's, etc.

LAGER: A beer that is fermented cooler (65F or so) and then cooled to near freezing, so that much of the flavor falls out of suspension.

Examples are: Bud lite, Miller lite, amberbock, oktoberfests(maerzens), etc.

I am an ale man in general.

Damn...you were on this like flies on a dead warthog!!

THIS IS A POLE!!! or........YOU HAZ VOTE?

I've been diggin' Boulder Brewing's Flashback and Dazed and Infused

More of an Ale guy but wouldnt turn down a Lager either

i'll take both....but I chose Ale for the poll. If is has the label "product of Czech Republic" on it, then it doesn't matter what it's refered to as....it'll be good as gold.

Absolutely agreed!

I am not a lager hater......hmm...let me put it this way.

I brewed the recipe for miller lite as an ale.

Ale yeast, no lagering, etc.

Delicious!

There's a reason they make seasonal beers. Summer is light and crisp beer time!

I'm a pale ale guy for sure, but lager (summer seasonals) in the summer.

Add an option for me lol. "Depends on the season"

Yeah, I'm a "depends on the season" sort of guy as well.

I love my ales but I will always go for a lager over an ale in summer. Especially after mowing the lawn!!!!!

Damn fine discussion!

As far as seasonal though, give me a case of maerzen (oktoberfest) in sept.

It beats the stereotype. A rich, malty Lager!!

Still an Ale guy though!;)

I am an ale guy in general, but since it is brewed in my backyard I will give a shout out to Yuengling. They do make possibly the finest lager in the world. That being said I still prefer stouts, porters, and barleywines.

Yuengling is the best of the BIG breweries by far.

Somehow the big 3 brainwashed everyone into thinking that less flavor equalled better quality.

A huge falsehood also manifested by: white bread (cheap balloon bread), white rice (bleached of all flavor) etc.

NO ONE will ever convince me that the Belgians do not make the best beer in the world. And, I do believe they are all ales.

Both I guess. Lagers for that early wake up beer or by day, something more substantial like an ale or stout with a good meal at night.

I'll bite on the ? though- what's the difference Badger?
