Actually I don't understand a word of Icelandic. :mope:  I can guess that it means good day (that would be goddag in Danish) but I only understand Norwegian and Swedish of the Nordic languages.
 
I find it a big difference living in nice warm Iceland and cold Hawaii ;) .

When I first heard an Islander say Góðan daginn! to me I thought an insult was being hurled.  The phrase sounds like "GO AND DIE" is being said.  I know Americans may not be a most favored group of people, but death doesn't usually solve problems!  ;~)
 
Yes, from what I remember the Icelandic greeting means good day.
