seeds Wiri Wiri germination help

Hello! I recently started growing wiri wiri peppers and scotch bonnet peppers from seed for the first time in a small hydroponic system with lighting at room temp. The scotch bonnets have taken root and are doing great, but I'm having trouble getting the wiri wiri to germinate. It's been almost a month since planting. Theres about 20 wiri seeds (no success) and 8 scotch bonnets (all successful)

Anybody have any tips on getting this variety to germinate, or can tell me how long it usually takes? Thank you!☀️

:welcome: to THP...........some varieties of peppers, especially some super hots can take from 3-4 weeks or longer to germ even under the best conditions. ...how old are your seeds and were they properly stored can all play a role in your germination success....give them a little more time and good luck.

Thanks SizzleLips! Really glad I found this community. The seeds I bought were listed in February 2018, so I'm hoping they're not more than a year old. They've been stored in a small plastic bag in an envelope too. I'll give it a few more weeks and keep my fingers crossed. If they dont ever germ, any tips for better longterm seed storage?

Well, I planted 3 Wiri Wiri seeds on 22 February, and the first one came up last night. So they can germinate in around 7 days or so if the seeds are good. I didn't do anything special, just put them in seed starting mix on a heat mat at 80 F. If you planted 20 seeds with no success after a month, then I would suspect bad seeds. Did they come from Amazon or Ebay, by chance?

For long term seed storage, I keep my seeds in the fridge. It should also be possible to store them in the freezer. Seed banks keep their stock frozen, after all.
