im sure this may start a fire but i aint no mr grey lol

I'm gonna file that under Alrighty Then...

It took me several years, but after getting the wife to come out and help me pick pods and do transplants and such, she has started to respect the plants for their beauty. She still won't eat anything hot, but it seems like she gets it now.

My fiance actually chose my fluorescent purples because they were pretty. Turned out to be a good choice as they were the first to flower, and en route to being the only ones to produce a pepper before first frost.

She still won't touch anything that's touched anything near a pepper, but it's something.

Forget trying to get the wife involved and instead get the kids involved -- figure then the wife will be trying to get you to spend more time in the garden since she has the house to herself to relax awhile !!
LOL at getting the kids involved , my 11 year old son likes his hot chillis, i got a call from the school a few months back , Teachers said i think you better come pick your son up , he's got some chilli in his eye, little bugger took a pile of thai pods to school without me knowing for him and his mates to try , forgot that he has some burnies on his fingers and rubbed his eyes.

The trick is to grow something she really likes too, so by tending to her crop she'll hopefully reciprocate and care about yours. How to keep her happy is continued attention. Take a break from the crop and booze long enough to know what she's thinking... and if you're processing a lot of really hot peppers, do it when others are out of the house so they don't gasp for air, though a kitchen exhaust fan helps a lot.

I hate almost everything in my garden other than the peppers and tomatoes. The rest I grow for her. The occasional chocalot covered sweet from the garden goes a long way too. Think strawberries. You grow enough for her. Yours become incidental to her. If she starts to complain about the cost of your "farm", show her how much you'll be saving on produce.

Because of all the peppers I grow (30+ varieties), my GF hates them. Don't mind what the woman says about your peppers!
