Trident's "It's all about the Bonnet" 2015

I am fascinated about the "Scotch Bonnet" Continuing in the same vein as my last season where I managed to grow over thirty varieties I am again keen to promote the "Scotch Bonnet" in all it's varieties and variations ... this season some new specimens to me and some old firm favourites such as SB7J and P. Borg 9
Borg 9 Chocolate
UBSC - Brown

Ignoring the quote "less is more" I have also invested in many varieties of Jalapeño
Including "Farmers Market Potato, Hercules , Mammoth, Señorita , El Rey, Ciclon " for this seasons UK Forum Chillis Galore Jalapeño challenge all are germinating now

SB seeds and Superhots sown 19th January this is their progress to date

The Superhot's have really taken off ... Borg and UBSC phenomenal growth

That is some collection!  Great labelling and super clean grow tent too  :)  What's the plan with the grow, are you looking to establish a seed bank specialising in them? With so many varieties, would seem like a great community resource and micro business.

Thanks Bumper labelling seems to be this seasons "must have" in the UK ... I used to be a paper sticker on the pot but the slugs always made straight for them ... dyno tape hopefully will stop this. I find the chilli fraternity some of the kindest people ... an example would be the story of the Jamaican Ministry of Argriculture (MoA) Scotch Bonnet. This particular bonnet was develop for the local Jamaican farmers and not for resale. Seed was acquired by a US forum member who grew out that season and past to the community. Eventually last season I managed to source some MoA Yellow seed ( Kingdenniz) through another forum member. Expecting to pay/trade I was told to "spread the seed" I grew two of KD's plants around forty pods to each plant and have continued to spread the seed in the UK and Worldwide. More than happy to send you some SB seed

Thanks is a nice list of bonnets I am growing the Yellow moa's & stuffing scotch bonnet got the seeds form Judy(pepperlover)
I will also be growing the red moa's if the seeds germinate when I get them form wicked mike .
I think you would like the Bahamian Goat as well as I am told it is a lot like a bonnet .
Your plants are beautiful hope you have a great growing season and lots of pods

Nice list and a great looking grow you have going on. I had no idea there were that many types of scotch bonnet. Plants look nice and healthy. Super jealous of your Borgs, so damn hard to find seeds for those. Hope you have a great grow this season and that your plants are all loaded with pods. I'll be following along to see how things go

Thank you Jason I will be watching your stuffing SB's with interest ... Bahamian Goat is a fine pod and I was lucky to get a few pods from Denmark last season. Once your MoA Red germinate I hope you will post on their glog

That's brilliant.  Spreading the seed and giving as many people as possible a chance to grow and use them is s much better than a couple of bucks / pounds here or there. That is a very generous offer - these days our customs officers are pretty hot to trot on international seeds coming through, I'll have to have a look at our current regulations and get back to you. Thanks!

I have to ask, which is your favourite so far, and why?

I have sent seed to Australia before to Grant Hustler ( Junglerain) you should check out his site ... another good site is the "Hippyseedcompany" as long as the seed is clearly labelled with variety and species it's usually ok

Favourite SB for me is the SB7J for heat taste and aroma ... MoA comes a close second

Thanks Trident, will do.  It seems like they cracked down about 12-18 months ago.  We are lucky that hippy and a few others are bringing in new strains and keeping them open.  That said, the collection of SBs you have is not available here - will drop Grant a line methinks SB7J is not readily available here that I have seen.

MoA seems to get a great rap in a number of other threads, I will have to give this one a go.  I look forward to the updates on your fantastic collection.

Cheers

That would be awesome! Have tried since this past summer just to find regular Borg and just found out a month ago that there's a chocolate version. If you see anything on my grow or trade list that interests you just let me know. I will have plenty of seed of everything on my grow list come end of season.

Thanks for the advice Trident, I hadn't seen Junglerain in initial googling for seeds.  Just ordered the following:
-bahamian goat pepper
-chocolate scotch bonnet
-yellow fatali
-jamaican gold.

I couldn't find SB7J or MOA anywhere, but these will keep me going for a season!

I really appreciate the offer Trident, but looks like it is a lottery with fines from JungleRain's post (below).  Of course, as an authorised seller, I am sure he could bring them through and offer them through his site.  Grant ?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but......
Info for Aussie Chilli Growers;
as of approx 2 months ago the import of Capsicum seeds has been amended;
Seed consignments either:

be accompanied by an official government Phytosanitary Certificate, which is endorsed with the following additional declarations, and identifies the seed lots and country where the seed was produced; supporting test reports must also accompany the declarations and include the name and address of the testing laboratory, the pathogens targeted, the seed lot tested, the number of seeds or plants tested, the type of test done, including, when appropriate, the oligonucleotide primers used; test samples are to be drawn in accordance with ISTA procedures

OR

be tested on-arrival if not accompanied by a satisfactory official government Phytosanitary Certificate.

NOTE : Re-export or destruction is also an option at the importer’s expense

this could now cost approx $600 for the importation of seeds  :(

That's an amazing list, I didn't even know there was that many kinds of bonnets. All I have growing are some orange and MOA bonnets. Do have some seeds of chocolate bonnets coming soon though. Can't wait to see some of these all grown up and what the pods look like. Good to know the MOA are on the top of your favorite list though. Makes me feel like i'm not missing out as much as it seems.
