smoking Started some pulled pork for drip beans

In a couple hours I'll chop up some onions, bell peppers, jalapeños, cayennes, and garlic to sauté in the grease from 2 pounds of bacon. Oh yeah I forgot, these beans will have bacon too :)

Bush's original baked beans is the base, once the veggies, bacon, and pulled pork all get added to the beans I'll adjust brown sugar, honey, and salt/pepper/spices to taste and smoke the whole thing for a couple hours to meld the flavors. Will update with progress throughout the evening.

Bacon

Veggies (yellow sweet onion, red onion, red and yellow bell, 3 deseeded jalapeños, 2 deseeded cayenne, whole head of garlic)

Veggies sizzling in bacon

Pulled pork

It's all mixed and smoking on the kettle. I didn't mean to be up this late but sometimes you just have to let it ride :)

***Last year I didn't deseed the peppers and also put in a couple habaneros. The entire pot of beans was nuclear, only about half a dozen people out of 25 or so could eat it, but they loved it. I'd like it to be something everyone (except the vegetarians, of course) can enjoy this year***
