pickling Pickled "Everything"

That pickled bar food scene was the only redeeming quality of that movie to me.

I love just about everything pickled...except turds.

Can't argue with that! haha

I did have some pickled Asparagus some time ago that was pretty good. Not something I have seen often and can't recollect where I got it from. But I remember it was something I would like to try again......

Sorry Reggie

But that is a big NOPE for me.

My wife makes a killer vietnamese style pork soup with pickled mustard greens. I love that stuff!

I've never tried it, but if you will give me the name, I will try it next week. We have several Vietnamese restaurants locally and I am not informed enough to make such a call for a specific dish. It sounds great! I will take and post a pic here. Thanks in advance.

It's something you'll probably have to find at the oriental market. It's available packaged or try making it homemade.

My family always makes it fresh using oriental mustard greens. I don't think it would be the same with normal grocery store mustard greens. Good luck with it, it's quite good!

Thank you! We have a great (very large) store here and I love browsing...  I've hammered the snacks section to much delight... I will look next visit for the pickled greens.

Much obliged.

Thanks.

Bad enough I have to fight frequently, worse to get my a*s whooped by some dude I don't know what he's saying...
Yea don't say it haha. It means "f*** your mother". The only words and phrases I know are foul. During the early days of dating my wife, her and her dad got a kick out of telling me to say all these things to make me look like an ass.

Understood. I took French as a required "Foreign language" in high school. Hated it. Thought it was a waste of time. Later, I found myself in France, wishing that I'd paid greater attention and learned more. Sadly and honestly, while in the service, I visited many countries and my recollection of languages are left with but a few key phrases - "a beer please" and "where is the bathroom?"  In several I am fluent...

As I typed this, I noticed no one mentioned pickled garlic? Is it only me? There's gotta be more out there....

Some 'Put Some South in Your Mouth' pickled favorites –

Chow-chow

Dilly beans

Pickled watermelon rind

And one of my absolute favorite pickled foods is without a doubt, Pickled Herring! I’ve never made it or had the opportunity to have fresh locally made batches some people can get where fishing is big business in their area and everything is fresh and abundant – only the jarred kind from the grocery. I’m sure there are far better brands, but the ones I can get and love are the ‘Blue Hill Bay’ in wine sauce (the ‘Vita’ brand is OK, but not as good IMO). I also like the kind in sour cream, but the wine sauce is just so delicious!

Another favorite of mine are those pickled (marinated) mushrooms one can usually find at the olive bars of many nicer end grocery stores or markets. The flavor and texture combination… awesome!

(Some odd mentions I’ve yet to try and which sound very interesting are things like pickled grapes (muscadines perhaps too!?), avocado, and blueberries… I’ve yet to try lemons either)

Here's one that has gained some traction nationally... I've never had an inclination to try it though.. the Kool-Aid pickle. Dump out the pickle juice and let marinate in Kool-Aid juice. It really is a thing!

Here's a small jar of my pickled sausages. I used reaper peppers.

Here's a gallon jar I am currently working on. it has Reaper, Ghost and Moruga peppers in it. (This jar was started 6/25/17)

Also pictured are the last of a gallon jar of Pepperoncini (from Aug 2015) and my last jar of Cascabella peppers Aug 2017 (chili peppers)

Cuc's and Dilly beans

Pickled sausage ain't bad, the flavor is like a hot wing. When I was a kid the cheapo movie theater had them, but they were, let's say, well aged... they'd grab them with the tongs and you'd see a meat poof, and they'd just about disintegrate in your mouth.
