Came up in a flower pot

27 December 2013 - 03:53 PM

Sorry for the poor cell phone quality pics, I snapped it while I was visiting at Christmas.  I think it might just be a jalapeno variant?  It came up on its own in an African Violet pot that's ~8 years old.  The pepper plant is now about 6 months old and vining across her other pots..

New Shelf!

03 July 2013 - 06:22 AM

Well it's not the best picture, but you get the idea.  I think I'll build 2 more of the same, one to hold the rest of my collectibles and one (for now) to hold the dead soldiers.

It's 16'4" (all the way across one wall of my "breakfast nook" area).  I realized I'm missing 2001 and 2011 Dave's Insanity Private Reserve if anyone has spares :surprised:

Looking to Buy or Trade

04 October 2011 - 06:59 PM

I am looking for a couple of peppers for next year:

1) Goat peppers -- a Bahamian variety I believe, at least the only goat pepper sauces I've ever had came from there.
2) Peppercorns -- I would like some not dried peppercorns to plant if anyone is growing these fresh. As I understand they take a few years to make fruit, but I'm willing to be patient if I can get them planted now.
3) Hops -- any variety would be cool, I know these are rhizomes, so I'll gladly pay a little extra to ship them even if we're trading.

I'd be happy to pay a bit for these or I can trade some of my seeds. I have Yellow Bhuts, Yellow Fatalis, Big Jims, Black Hungarian, Reshampatti, Choco Scotch Bonnet, Regular Scotch Bonnet, Aji Lemon Drop, White Peruvian Habs, Black Pearl, Explosive Ember, "Cumari" (?), and probably forgetting one or two more....

Wintering

16 September 2011 - 02:46 PM

So we nearly had a frost last night (42 degrees) and it's looking like I may be wintering my peppers sooner rather than later.

With everything in 5 gallon buckets, I need just trim them down to stubs and bring them in my basement correct? After that water very sparingly and bring them back out in the spring?

Pepper Appendage

My newest Big Jim grew an appendage, looks like a snail!
