It should be a good year for growing peppers. My goal is to find the most productive varieties that thrive in the Texas heat. The growlist will consist of mainly Annuums but there will be a couple non-Annuums here and there. I'll post the official growlist later. Cheers!

After finding out most of my seed stock had gone bad, I decided to have some fun with what's left. I took the remainder of my Aji Dulce (Peru) seeds and let them soak in rainwater for 48 hours. The plan was to let the seeds soak and then plant in a pot as a last attempt. Today when I looked at the seeds closely, I noticed one had already sprouted! I decided to just change out the water and let them keep soaking. I'll change the water every couple of days for now. I put the one seed that germinated in a peat pellet, let's hope for the best.

You're going to have 200 sprouts, I guarantee it.

This experiment is a dud. The one germinated seed never popped up after planting. Even with frequent water changes there is no signs of anything else germinating in the cup. *Misson aborted*

The Peruvian Cerezo really stands out from the crowd. Itโ€™s darker than the other peppers and the leaves seem a little thicker. Itโ€™s not trying to stretch and is happy growing in the canopy of the other plants. This baccatum should grow small peppers that look similar to pequin but possibly bigger. Not much info out there other than whatโ€™s on Texas Hot Pepper website : โ€œSouth American variety that is rarely seen outside of local South American towns. Baccatum variety, great for culinary use.โ€

Yeah I had to Google that one too. I think itโ€™s a cow horn pepper. @CaneDog whatโ€™s the story behind this one?
It's vigorous and produces early. Easy to grow. Big corked peppers.

You can see a pod picture in this post.

Haha. @ahayastani - these one's don't look anything like what that lady's got right there ;)
There are several varieties I've never heard of, such as "inek boynusu". For this Turkish-sounding name, Google gives me several images of the following type:

Same for me, but the corking is different.
According to DeepL, inek boynuzu are cow horns ๐Ÿฎ. The pepper in CD's image does have some beef...๐Ÿ‚

I had to search/look up the translation of "Inek Boynuzu" to learn that as well. Plus I'd seen the "Boynuzu" part spelled at least three different ways, so that's when I figured out the spelling and all made sense.

It's easier for me to just call them "Inek," which I supposed makes them just cows ๐Ÿ„๐Ÿ„๐Ÿ„
