Melissa77754 2012 Glog

Hey Everyone
icon_smile.gif

So I figured it is about time I start a Grow log of my own and I will do my very best to keep it up to date. With two kiddos and a massive amount of plants my days can be pretty hectic. I grew jalapenos and serranos last season, had a decent harvest considering the small pot size I used. In July I met a nice lady giving away hot pepper seeds to newbies on GW, decided to give them a try, August met Smokemaster through a generous SASBE offer and the rest is history!! lol

I started a batch in late August so I have some "overwinters" if you will, living in SoCal I can grow year round with the right protection from time to time. I started out with a cheap 12'x7' hoop house and when the winds thrashed that I bought two 6x8 with shelving, still the cheaper plastic hot house type but the shelving makes it heavy and the winds don't phase it. I also have a 6x6 indoor tent with a 4 bulb T5 and 2 monster size CFL's. The growth indoors versus out does not even compare, T5's are amazing! Have to thank my bro for giving me that fixture.

I am hoping I didn't bite off more than I can chew being it's my first real season growing super hots mainly. I plan to sell some plants along the way to help fund my pepper growing addiction

My log will be pretty picture heavy which I am sure most will not mind! Enjoy and happy pepper growing to everyone!!

Your plants are a little ahead of mine! Grrrrrr! I do have a few on par with yours...funny all my bhuts are growing like your chocolate bhut...except my chocolate bhuts??? Lol they're the only ones growing more upright. That purple podded plant will be amazing in a few short weeks!

But I had a head start so no comparing! lol. My choco Bhut is going for the short stocky look I guess?? :P Nothing but sunshine for the next 10 days, our plants are going to explode with growth! Cali will be catching up to all the Florida growers in no time! :D

your plants is always beautiful like you and with your mothers touch nothing can stop u, your home will be a jungle soon....

Not to sure about that Melissa :liar: Us Florida growers know what we be doing

Jamie I was waiting for you to catch that comment and respond, I knew it was coming!

Love looking at all your superhot pod pics, it will be awhile before I can catch up to you! :P
Melissa... take a photo of your greenhouse/shelving.. cost and where you got them.. i need something like that...

Will do, have a massive amount of potting up to do this week, both greenhouses are bursting at the seams and everything needs a bigger home! Once I clear some room out I will snap pics and post the link.

Thank you for the kinds words, always much appreciated! ;)

Where is all this rain I keep hearing about in Socal?? Only a light mist over here in Corona and that was early this morning! My plants are actually loving the weather, like my little bubble over here in Corona! lol

Nagabon just got a new home from a 1ga to a #15 pot, should really take off now! :)

Cascabella loaded up, not sure when to pick them?

This chocolate Habanero started flowering like crazy a couple months back, set a few pods then decided to drop all its flowers in favor of new growth! Not complaining, this guy is so bushy and reaching for the sky! Thinking about getting it a new 30ga smart pot home

I swear this purple bhut has stretched at least 4 inches since being brought outside last week!

A couple 1ga annums in my tent in desperate need of new homes, yet it doesn't seem like they mind too much? Must be the teas they have been getting! :P

Another mystery plant that has been neglected and in the same pot since Oct? Not even a 1ga! lol. Seriously I think my teas have given me the time needed to sustain them in smaller pots longer.

I have 1 1/2 yards of potting soil in the back of my truck waiting for the hubby when he gets home from work. Picked up 140 #15 pots this weekend, time to get to work! Tons of pics this week I am sure, lots of 1ga supers getting new homes! :D

you said:"I have 1 1/2 yards of potting soil in the back of my truck waiting for the hubby "
Lucky him, I have been informed by the wifey, I have 2 yards of cane soil, and 4 yards of mulch in the driveway waiting for me to get home! What is it with you "Melissa's" ? LOL(Her name is also Melissa!)
I don't mind though...mulch is easy shoveling and good to practice "paddle strokes" in, and its better than (where is the "weirdo" emoticon?), and some of the cane soil will be going to my pepper garden ;)

oh, ...nice bhut!

LOL! I like your wifey already!! :P I am beat from today, the hubby unloaded while I washed out 20 #15 pots and filled em up! I will be so happy when the majority of my potting up is done, but 20 plants only made a very small dent! Time for a beer!

Man the things we do for our peppers, hope you are relaxing after 6 yards of work! ;)

A few more pics, more to follow tomorrow I am sure! :)

Morouga Yellow doing really well in the ground

Ancho Mulato's coming along nicely

A tray of Aji Joe Mix seedlings, superhot surprise and the mix he offered a few months back. Plus a few manzanos from cardenas market pods. All were germinated outdoors in my greenhouse about 5 weeks ago.

Thanks for stopping in, I am looking forward to the Mulato's a well! And yes it's a good thing this is my full time job at the moment, otherwise I have no idea how I would keep up! ;)

Your plants look great they are loving that tea you made I had to look over your list again it is just impressive looking it over it will be a great year for you.

Thanks Fernando! I actually need to update my list, I am sure I missed some varieties in there. Maybe after my massive pot up is done I can concentrate on taking inventory and updating my list. Hope all is well in your neck of the woods, I have a feeling it will be an epic year for us socal folks! :D

Some of the new transplants from yesterday. It's nap time at my house but when my girls wake up they are going to grandma's house to spend the night. This mamma has wayyyyy to much work to do outside and my mom was nice enough to keep the kiddos overnight for me! Got my work cut out for me tomorrow, think I will take it easy today! ;)

All of these guys were potted up from 1ga pots, they desperately needed it! Excuse the quality, need to start using my camera and not my iphone. Tomorrow :)

Orange Thai, this one only got a 10ga home.
