Chili plants are not frost tolerant, so no native Russian chili i guess? (not in the cold parts like Siberia anyhow).

Here`s my St Helena ripening, id guess im the only one growing this variety in OZ? anyone know if Grants grown this one?

Anyone wanting some seeds gimme a shout.

Mezo.
Still could be.. Russia is a big place, I'm sure there is somewhere temperate. But since no one has heard from it (and on this site we should know :P ) I reckon someone has just made up some names, or translated some regular chilli types into Russian. There are a few Hungarian types out there.

I wouldn't mind some of those for next season. I've got lots to trade.

Hungary is very similar to Perth Moo (Mediterranean climate) & like Perth gets its 40`s in summer, my old man`s Hungarian.
Sure ill shout again when i have them dried & in bags, don`t even know if they taste any good yet? but fun to grow a rare one.

Nice looking pods there Mezo
I grew a St Helena Island Yellow a couple of years back.I can't remember exactly but I think I stopped growing it because it wasn't from the Chinense family.
I am a bit of a Chinense fan and I am a bit biased :P

Me to (Chinense fan) but i have a few annuum`s dotted around (freebies/gifts) where did you get your seeds from Micca?

Mezo.

Yeah the Chinenses are the best.

The million dollar question "where did you get them from" Well I could tell you but then I would have to kill you :P :P (gotta protect your seed sources).
Nah I'm part of a forum where they have a seedbank that you can get seeds from, grow out and then re supply the stock(or add new ones).
I think the seeds were supplied by John Feidler but can't remember exactly now.

I'm into the annums mainly as I'm into cooking and the taste of most chinense is overpowering .. too sweet etc. Obviousley depending on what your cooking.
I do have several varieties growing annum, chinense, sativa and indica which all have distinctive characteristics.

Are you sharing seeds from these two? :D

What kind of system is it micca?? I take it you circulate the water?? If so what kind of pump do you use??

Yep it's a Circulation system. Iv'e just one of those normal aqua one pond pumps AP1050 size.
I have made up a PVC pipe spray bar that runs down the middle of the system and the Channel is on a slant to let the water drain back into the resevior.
When the plants are small or bouncing back from winter I use a 70lt resevior but when they are cranking I have another 70 lt container I add on.

Well I finally got around to posting a pic of my outdoor Hydro system.

The plants really love it in here, the Channel is about 5mtrs long and 600mm Wide, 200mm deep.

Here is a shot from 2011 when the plants were in full swing

Happy Chilli Growing,
Micca
So simple but looks so effective , do u have any heat problem?

It handles the heat way better than the pots do. Being under the eves of the house and also got some shadecloth cover on alot of it so does help.
i have pots also under there but don't do as well. With it getting watered 3-4 times a day they love it. And the water doesnt heat up too much in the resevior either.
I have an air bubbler and a circulation pump(cheap ass 500 odd ltr/h) so maybe this helps keep the temp down.

micca

mica i just finished putting together my first aquaponics system. i have a similar 1000l/h pump and i have a 150-200 litre fishtank. The grow beds are two olive barrels cut in half so 100 litres each. once it all gets going shold be a weapon!

when i move to my new place ill hAve trout and bara growing.
