water ripening / growing and water ph.

How much citric acid have you been using? I have high pH tap water also and our rain barrels are running low. Our pH runs from 7.7 to 8.2. I think my soil may also be alkaline but I need to confirm this.

    Strange leaves and uneven coloring

This is my first year really growing peppers, so bear with me.  Several of the peppers in my main in-ground garden area look strange, some more than others.  Most of my Chinense have very puckered leaves and some are folded over like a taco shell.  I've also got an issue with uneven coloring...

pod Supposed to be Trinidad Sweet but certainly is not!

I would just describe the smell as burning.  I'm not the best with hot pepper descriptors  .  My sister in law came over to try a piece.  She said it reminded her of a chipotle without the heavy smoked flavor that she can't stand.  She and my husband both caught a slight fruitiness...

pod Supposed to be Trinidad Sweet but certainly is not!

I traded someone on a tomato forum last year, tomato seeds for pepper seeds.  The seeds for this pepper were labelled Trinidad Sweet.  Yeah, so something went wrong!  The plant says chinense with nice broad leaves.  The pepper is an incredibly dark brown on the exterior and brick red on the...

Distorted new growth...Diagnosis: Arethroid Mites. Insecticide?

I'm a newbie to peppers so feel free to take this with a grain of salt. Last year I lost around 50 tomato plants to herbicide damage. The herbicide came in on composted horse manure. The leaves were curled in a very similar way. Aminopyralid, clopyralid and picloram are commonly sprayed...

    Beefsteak seedlings droopy.

I use standard 40 watt shop lights and have them almost touching the top leaves. I don't know how T5s compare. New big dwarf will be smaller than the beefsteak at all stages. I grow several different dwarves and they are all much shorter and stouter than the indeterminate types from the...

    Beefsteak seedlings droopy.

Plant deeper and get a fan on them or rub over the tops of the plants gently several times a day. The stems will get stronger if you do. Also, your lights might be too high. What are you running for lighting?

    The official TOMATO thread

Are you still looking for seeds/recommendations?  If yes, you would probably do well with dwarf tomatoes.  I know that "Patio" is available pretty much everywhere.  You could also get seeds for varieties like New Big Dwarf, Summertime Gold, Dwarf Emerald Giant, and Rosella Purple.  These are...

    Hello from Texas!

Hi there!  My name is Christy and I'm a super hot pepper newbie!  I've lurked around for a while now.  Time to come out into the light!  I've grown the usual serrano, jalapeno, Hungarian wax, etc and I had a couple of chile pequin plants pop up in my yard last year.  I'm moving into the super...
