  • First there were spider mites, and then suddenly there weren't.

    Flora-mite?

No. They actually wash off pretty easily, so I stuck the plant under a sink and then blasted it with azamax after it was done with that. It's just growing leaves back now. Then again it wasn't a pepper, so the mites don't hold on as well.

Itsy bitsy spider crawled up the water spout. Down came the rain and washed the spider out.
I forgot why fast plants were called that. Leaves the day after they were planted. Now if only peppers did that.
I'm always amazed at how much drying peppers can take. I have a kpakpo shito seedling that was flat on the ground with its leaves rolled up from wilting, and I watered it. It's about half back to normal now.
4, maybe five of last year's plants left. Depends if the brain strain can regrow from three inches of stem and a leaf bud. All seven of the kpakpo shito were spared the aphids though.

Thanks, and BS has four nodes I think, but went from being about three feet tall to three inches, so it has the giant roots to support.

Mine was only a 5 inch tall seedling at the time of being beheaded and uprooted (F'n dog) but it has plenty of new growth now. I find it hard to give up on a plant until it is absolutely dead.

Yeah, that's why I didn't get rid of my aphid infected ones until today. I just didn't want to deal with the floor being caked in honeydew again. BS looks like it's still alive, so I think it will finally go branchy next year, which would be wonderful. This is the last year I reuse soil though. It's just asking for problems.
Mother of god, the scotch bonnet is still alive.

I know the feeling. My dog trampled mine going for a tree rat. It lives! Hope to squeeze another pod out of it.

Mine's been put through so much crap I'm glad there isn't a PETA for plants, because they'd probably want it put down. Last year it was severely nutrient deficient, then it had bacterial leaf spot, then it had aphids over the winter, then it got leaf spot again, and then it got flooded several times, then broad mites, then part of it was frozen, and it's still growing back up from the base and several branches that I thought were done for. Lesson learned: If the branch is...
On the one hand, I'd like to think Satan isn't targeting me. On the other, broad mites. I have to order a shitload of azamax.

How well do mites do in the cold? I'm debating whether or not to leave my plants out another week.

I have to spray before they come in anyway. Pitcher plants and the special plant I might get don't like pesticides.

Link? I can't find it. Also, the mites are broad mites, so it might not work.
Nice to see that Heckle finally added his face as his profile pic.

    Hahaha hahaha nice!!
Repotted seedlings today. Roots so underdeveloped that most of them can't stand up properly.

I can remember being able to run faster after I got new shoes. They should be fine.
When repotting cacti, just note that the gloves don't help.

I have a large cactus garden. I always use old rags and towels to cradle them when planting. Throw them out afterwards and look the other way when the wife asks where all the towels have gone.

That's actually a great idea. Could have saved myself a lot of wincing today had I done that.
