  • I am usually a fairly adventurous eater. Yet I find myself hesitating at kippers, mostly because of the high salt. Hmm.... what to do....

Can we have kippers for breakfast? Mommy dear mommy dear.

This was actually a stocking stuffer, so no choice on the brand. I've watched a YouTube now on how to go about prepping it for eating, so at least I'm not uninformed about it. Still..... Kipper margarita? LOL

    Pickled herring is best herring.

Kippers are good in small doses, but yeah, too salty.
We went. We ate. We exchanged gifts. Their dog ate the lid to my cooler. Styrofoam "snow" everywhere!

As good as styrofoam coolers are, and they are, I'm glad it was this one and not the Coleman. I mean, pink and teal plastic just wouldn't meld with their decor! LOL

I was asked today to make and bring the sorbet that I made for the TD for Christmas dinner. How cool is that?

Ok, I will be making two batches. One will be just like I made for the TD. Thinking the other will use pom juice instead of lime and also use grated chocolate. A simple substitution, but it sounds pretty yummy to me!

But then I am thinking I will still include some lime juice to help balance out the sweetness.

You could try something like tart raspberry to stick with red fruit.
Bangkok Pizza from Pizza BOGO. Added jalapenos and cumin. Pretty good!

huh, huh, she said bangkok. lol
Bailey's Pumpkin Spice Liqueur is pretty tasty. Bailey's Pumpkin Spice Liqueur and Eggnog/Custard is even tastier still.
Sometimes when you have to attend a function you don't really want to go to, there is a payoff that makes it less painful. I had the BEST hunk of filet mignon tonight for dinner. Didn't hardly need a knife. Yes sir, that was GOOD eating!

Dang, hoggy, that sounds absolutely delicious!
It is so incredibly enjoyable to be able to introduce people to chiles they've never had a chance to try before.

Bringing people food they truly appreciate is one of the greatest joys in life. Chillies tend to be more devisive but when they go down well, boy do they do so.
Friend is in town on business and we had dinner tonight at one of my fav restaurants. Gotta love a place that is more than happy to oblige when you ask them to throw some hot pepper powder into your drink, and not just a little. POW!

Ooh what kind of drink? I have made a chipotle infused tequila which makes a killer margarita.

I like my vodka with lime, lemongrass and ghost. How does powder work though, wouldn't it float?

Mix the powder in well - it rehydrates as you stir.

Silver tequila (don't remember brand), patron citronge, agave nectar and half a grapefruit. Not sure what kind of chile powder they added, but they have several types.
Time left for a total restore from the backup on my Airport Time Capsule - 4.5 hours. Hoping....

I am happy to report that what Apple said was really ALL that was needed. Boot up in recovery mode, choose your backup to restore from, and then go do something else until the restore is done. No worries, no problems. Got up this morning to find the restore done and not a single issue. Just my computer eagerly waiting for me to use it as if nothing ever happened. WHOOP!
Leftovers lunch - fried rice, chili, spinach, all mixed together. I may be fixing this for dinner some night soon. Pretty good!
Computer repeatedly shuts down or won't reboot. Take it for service and they say "try doing 'x'". "X" tried, things seemed better, but then not so much. Today their response is "we'll fix it and not charge anything, because it turns out it's a recall item. We're surprised you've had the computer for six years and this is the first time it's become an issue." I'm liking this lots, as I was thinking I was going to have to lay out some...

The recall was issued a few years back but I had changed emails and did not update my profile with them until about a year ago.

The old system 7 macbooks outlast anything made these days. Had mine 12 years before it went through an airport asleep. Everything but the screen still works perfectly.
Got the good news that my middle bro finally landed another job. It's been a long time coming, so I'm super-glad his search is finally over.

Baking bread, Part Deux, today. Maybe this time I'll also get the soup made, and a sandwich. It could happen.
I was about forgetting how very yummy candied chiles are, but that was rectified tonight. Makes me feel sorry for peeps who won't even give them a try. Oh my gosh, just TRY not to lick every utensil and pan used in the process! It's a good thing the growing season is so short, or I'd be putting on more than a few pounds. Ha!
I know some of you can't wrap your minds around using EVOO in sweet stuff, but trust me, this works. Latest - box mix of Krusteaz pumpkin spice muffins, to which I've added EVOO (in place of veggie), ginger powder, chipotle chile powder, chopped dark chocolate, and bacon. And THAT, my friends, is how it's done!

Thanks, never seen the abbreviation before. Honestly, I don't care if it's sweet or not but if the flavours don't go I won't do it. Olive oil in brownies strikes me as highly bizzarre but I might try it some time just to check.

sf - same reaction a lot of people have upon hearing it. But then, they have the same reaction when I tell them I put hot pepper powder into the brownies, too. I haven't made brownies without hot pepper powder and EVOO in eons - they're just too good!

Do you actually taste the olive oil? Does vegetable oil give a similar result? Would Olive Pomice oil be even better?
