sounds promising.. i should have said you wanted to go custom... what it should do now is wipe everything thats on it and install vista over the top... just hopefully it doesnt have the password still set up but i dont think it will
cool - you should be sweet now, providing there's nothing else wrong with it.. just follow through the next steps, enter the key on the case and you should be set.. it'll take about half hour to an hour
see how you go with that, but if it doesnt work, restart, hit f12 and you'll be able to change it to boot directly from the disk.. i typed f1 before, not f12 - whoops
or if its boot manager are you able to tab across to a setting to change it from disk (not sure what that'll say), but it'll have options you can change to CD Rom
ok.. you probably need to change it so that you can boot from the disk when it starts up.. what is the brand of your lappy? you usually need to hit f1 so it goes into bios, but tell me the brand and i'll tell you what to do
hold down the power key for about 10 seconds so it powers down... turn it on, put the disk in and see if it runs, you should get an option to do a clean install which should wipe everything and reload vista..
if its a software problem then the new disk will fix it.. if its a hardware problem then you're kinda screwed....
no worries - glad it made it there overnight!! how did the plant survive? ok? the disk was through work.. i tried loading it onto an old laptop that had died so it didnt work.. if you need a hand installing it let me know
