    Hydro question

I use a hanna triple meter, well worth the money. You can get either the pen type or as I did a wall mount unit with leads that stay in the hydro all the time. I think I paid around $200 for mine if I remember correctly.

    Hydro question

This is the Ecogrower by GenHydro. I believe it's considered a continuous drip system, not DWC. But what you are describing is a DWC, where the roots are constantly submerged in nutrient and it uses a bubbler. Maybe they have a similar name? If this is the one you have you will notice I left one...

    pics First season pics

Actually MG isn't bad at the plants early stages since it's high in nitrogen but you're going to want to switch to something that promotes blooms once the first flowers show. that being said, I do recommend organic fertilizers overall. I think you get better results from organic. (with the...

container Something is digging in my containers

Gotta be tree rats. (squirrels) We had us a throwdown in my yard one year. little bastards kept digging in my pots up on the deck. never buried anything, just dug. I finally ended up trapping about 12 of them and carted them all over to Wisconsin on the other side of the river. figured that if...

    Mistakes made in 08

Wouldn't surprise me, still had to go with the pots though. Transplanting later than now would be a waste, not enough time in the ground unless it's a short season such as the jalapenos. *edit* fricken just started raining as I typed this, no love in MN this year.

    Mistakes made in 08

Well so far I haven't mis-stepped but the weather has been brutal. I gave up on the garden, too cold too late, and now too wet for most of it. I did manage to plant 4 jalapeno's on the high side of the garden but we'll see how it goes. The rest of the garden got a layer of weed block put down on...

    What's causing this??

The first thing that comes to mind is root rot. good drainage I trust? what type of soil / mix did you use? fertilizer? 8c is 46.4f so its on the edge of what's acceptable but well out of frost range. one or 2 nights at that temp probably wouldn't be too bad since the plants are mature but a...

    Which's one's the Hanoi red?

Yep, it's the green one. I've grown them for a number of years. Very prolific with long narrow peppers and leaves. Fairly hot.

    Gonna quit if.......

Well I've pretty much given up on planting a garden this year. It hasn't stopped raining in weeks now and the garden is just soaked. I've planted the hydro and I'm going to take my healthiest plants and do them up in pots so I can get them going. It's going to be one of those years...

    Hydro Question

Finally got the hydro up and running, actually I just got my plants in from CC but had the hydro up for a week now. The garden still isn't planted, we went from too cold to too wet. I'm hoping to get the plants in the ground tomorrow if it doesn't rain tonight. Craze spring that's for sure. I'm...

    Size of Pots

Ya it works in hydro because of the increased oxygen content. DWC setups have the roots in the liquid all the time and the plants love it but you have to have a bubbler installed or the root system rots. Same principle applies with my drip system. An air pump is used to force the nutrients up...

smoking Oh yeah... We gunna eat!

Yep, gotta have the Q going for Memorial weekend. I picked up a 9.5lb turkey breast that I plan on smoking over apple wood on Monday. (rain off and on this weekend) I will be rubbing it down with a chipotle/brown sugar rub and basting throughout the day with a butter/white wine mop. Cant wait!
