• Went to FedEx Office to get business cards printed real quick. I didn't think they'd be spectacular because of the time crunch, but holy hell my inkjet could have printed these better.
i love my friends. they come over with 2 6 packs and a growler and say we have to finish this tonight. challenge accepted.

So, I ended up getting the photo job I didn't want, but after talking to the marketing dept about the details of the event and negotiating the hours, it actually seems like its going to be fun.

They're having a casino night... and scaled back the hours they want me at the trade show. I can deal with that.
The musician I manage is getting radio play daily. She's at # 27 on the charts.... in Macedonia.
Took my mom to see Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble for her bday last night. She said the guy next to her was farting the entire time and his farts smelled Russian. I dunno if I'm more impressed by the music I saw or my mom's ability to tell the origins of a fart.
Home studio recording question: Which DAW do you use? We're currently running an old version of SONAR, also have GarageBand because I have a Mac. I've used Fruity Loops and Reason in past, was looking at Pro Tools obviously, but want some input. We're tracking everything from acoustic guitars to MIDI keyboards, to dog howls.

If you are planning to run a studio, there are reasons (interfacing w/ mastering folks and suits at labels) to use ProTools, certainly.

I believe that in movie scoring, SONAR and Cubase and DAW's beyond ProTools have gained real market-share.

In plain audio recording, though ... I think ProTools is probably still *really* standard.

I had an mbox or such come w/ ProTools LE, and it was "alright" in my hands, but would have been better w/ some legit...

Sadly, I agree protools is the standard, and likely required if you need to send projects to a big studio for "finishing" and label release.
I actually ran into that a long time ago when questioning a small company about the cost to do a small run of CD's. Using Cakewalk (long before sonar), and they wouldn't accept the mixed masters, or the projects unless it was a ProTools project.

If you plan on your own Indie, things are different now---use what works best....

Ha! I used to use Cakewalk too. and Fruity Loops, a friend recently told me they use FL studio and I was like wtf is that!? When did that name change? We'll probably do the protools free trial, I haven't had much time in the last couple days to fart around with Reaper yet. I've got 4 laptops here and an extra imac, and have to figure out which one I'm going to wipe and dedicate just to music stuff. thanks for all the input guys!

Either way you just gotta find masarepa, and if you can't find that P.A.N. masa harina works well. You mix equal parts masarepa and water and then the rest is up to you! I've always had cheese in mine. I've thrown bacon in them before, jalapeno, etc. Make a patty our of it, you can cook them fatter or thinner, stuff them or use them as is, how I did. I pan fry mine in butter, my Colombian friend's mom had this over the burner contraption that she used cooked their arep...

Got home from my video job at 8:15 tonight just to start working on some freelance marketing and design work. Shocking the mouth with capsaicin really brings you that needed 4th wind.

No way! I couldn't live with a Wings fan. Although it'd make baseball season easier if he was a Tigers fan instead of a Cardinals fan.
tried to do a nice thing and hired someone to plow my dad's driveway for him, since he had his first heart attack shoveling snow. its been almost a whole day and the guy never showed, i feel like a jackass for telling my pops i had him covered.

I dont live close enough to help him out and i have a history of throwing out my back. Its actually in bad shape now cause i had to carry my husky home from the park the other night after she cut her paw open.

Ha yeah. I let her and my other dog run around leashless since it was 3am and no one was around and all the sudden the husky was screaming and bleeding everywhere. she had a gash/puncture on her paw.
Started a blog for my friend who is currently fighting Ewing's sarcoma. He's got such a positive outlook on life, working on this blog makes me want to have a more positive outlook on mine. http://www.healingwithjake.com if you're interested in taking a gander.
