OhioGrown's First Ever Glog 7-18 update, with pics, Pods are coming!!

thanks Jeff H, where in ohio are you from? I've actually been pulling flowers off of some of the Jalapenos for some time now, until they get a little bigger. The overwinters have tried setting a couple tiny pods, but nothing but lots of flowers right now. I'm thinking I might have put too many...

OhioGrown's First Ever Glog 7-18 update, with pics, Pods are coming!!

Ok, 3 weeks later, and I was able to get everything outside in the sun. 7 hours total from 10 am to 5 pm, kinda shaded, partial, but a lot of sun, none the less. No wilt at all on anything, I was kinda surprised. Here's all the babies, waiting to be planted in a couple weeks:And here's my...

T5 grow light questions. How long will I be able to grow?

myself and others have used the t5's this year every since January. a lot of my plants are flowering, but I've been pulling the flowers for now. So now I have some plants that are 8-12 inches tall, bushy, flowering, and just dying to get out into the garden in a couple weeks.

soil Decent soils for outdoor gardens?

Just wondering what everyone's opinions are for a cheaper soil for my outdoor beds. Last year I put some Ocean Forest in part of my garden. I recently made a couple raised beds, 8x8, and I've got them about half full of horse manure and leaf mold, and a little composted soil from under a huge...

What Mistakes Have You Made This Season?

damn, king. that sucks!!! Mistakes this year: fried a bunch of seeds with a heating mat in a room that was already 80 degrees. Used peat pots for new starts, then couldn't get them to stay wet enough. After switching to plastic pots, and putting my germination kit in another room on the floor...

    media Peat Pots

I used peat pots with happy frog soil too. I found that the pots were really hard to keep from drying out. I ended up repotting almost all of mine into bigger plastics pots. Since most of their roots didn't even get out of the bottom, repotting wasn't a problem. Now, I have a dozen Jalapenos...

Ok, so here's moving day. I transferred everything from inside out to my insulated woodshop in my garage. It's 19X13 has a ceiling fan and about 6 regular shop light fixtures. OhioGrown's First Ever Glog 7-18 update, with pics, Pods are coming!!

Today in central Ohio it got up to 45, so I got out and "woke up" my garden a little bit: The section in front is new, it's 8x16 and full of horse manure, leaf mold, some composted kitchen scraps, and a bale of Sunshine Professional Grow Mix #3 (fine Canadian Sphagnum peat moss, vermiculite...

water Tap water pH and nutrient question.

well, i keep getting different responses about Happy Frog. According to their site it has earthworm castings, bat guano, and composted forest humus. I've heard from some people who say I shouldn't need to use any ferts at all. I have Fish Fertilizer from Alaska, it's 5-1-1, and I have Vegan...

water Tap water pH and nutrient question.

yeah, i don't want to use anything that would hurt that plants, but i also don't want to buy some expensive stuff if vinegar will work just fine. Lemon juice make sense too.

water Tap water pH and nutrient question.

My tap water is a pH of 8. I think I read somewhere on here that distilled vinegar could be used to lower it. What is the ideal pH? I think I'm experiencing an Iron defficiency. This pic doesn't show it that great. I have a couple Douglah's that have it worse. It's all the new growth on top...

pics even after repoting, some top soil growth, is this normal? PICS

looks like salt buildup to me. If it was mold, or fungus you could use some hydrogen peroxide mixture on it. Or a fan blowing on the surface will help with mold. But that looks more like salt to me.
