    New Green Chile Variety

Beautiful looking pods! New Mex varieties are awesome. I ordered my Big Jim and 6-4 seeds from that site after a recommendation from windchicken, and 1 pack of seeds would almost last me a lifetime!

    UV light for finding hornworms

Finding this out while doing random research 2 winter's ago has saved me a lot of damage from hornworms. So much easier to find them when they're small and dispatch of them before they destroy the plants. It's the 1 tool I believe every pepper or tomato grower should have at their disposal.

    Hit and run-style hot peppers

Another vote for tepin and pequin. Cumari Pollux is another I've found to hit quick and fade quick too.

chinense School me on Safi Red Scotch Bonnets

For sure! You need seeds? I should have a couple I can send if you do.

chinense School me on Safi Red Scotch Bonnets

I was planning on it but had issues (my own fault) germinating some varieties and that was 1 of them.

    Ghost peppers showing purple streaks

The pods just got a suntan. Happens fairly often when they're not shaded by leaves.

    pest Pest Damage ID help

Top pic look like a leafhopper of some sort. Another sap sucker like aphids. In my experience the bumpy leaves like that are normal for bonnets. I've got no idea why but MoA and P. Dreadie I've grown have been the same. Bottom pics with the chunks cut out could be either slugs/snails, or...

food Figs and Hot Peppers Jam/Jelly

I don't have a recipe, but a fig and pepper jelly is definitely doable. Troy Primo's wife makes a fig and habanero jelly that is fantastic.

Free SFRB Fresh Peppers - Guessing Game Contest - US Only

I'll guess 99. Fave all time would be bonda Mahala. Just has such a wonderful flavour. Not really growing anything different next year, but really excited to see what I get from the possible chocolate nagabrain x 7 pot Primo I've got.

    windchicken 2017

Thanks for the kind words Gary! It's a blast to grow too. Ridiculously prolific, although the heat and humidity has them slowing down now. All the rain we've had hasn't fazed them either. Have to give credit to you for the cross though, the seeds came from your pods.

[Jun 19] What are you working on this week?

Hasn't been bad yet. I'm interested to see if it picks up tonight like they're predicting though.

How hot are the Sugar Rush varieties?

I grew all 3 last year, and the peach and cream were fairly mild, though did have some heat. The red were surprisingly hot though, easily the hottest Baccatum I've had. A few of the ones I had were close to hab level.

[Jun 19] What are you working on this week?

We're on track for having a tropical storm start to hit tomorrow evening, so will be moving my potted plants to in front of the house to get them out of the worst winds. Hoping the in ground plants don't get hit too hard.

    Seeds and recommended dealers

Refining fire chili's would be my go to for sugar rush seeds. I've always had good results with Jim's seeds, and grew all 3 sugar rush last year with great success.

    windchicken 2017

Looking great as always Gary! Sad to see the New Mex getting hit by hornworms. They seem to be extremely prevalent this year, I'm assuming the last couple of mild winters may be behind it.

    sugar rush peach

I grew all 3 sugar rush last year and they take forever to ripen. Once one starts the others seemed to follow fairly quickly though. Well worth the wait imo. Awesome flavour and surprisingly hot for a Baccatum.

health What's Wrong With These Plants??

Top soil isn't ideal for containers as it compacts too easily. Your mix would be good if you subbed peat moss for the topsoil. I agree with the others too. Definitely looks like over watering.

Will all this rain kill my plants?

I agree with Slug. We've had a ridiculous amount of rain here in South Louisiana, and had a few severe storms as well. Lost nearly all my flowers, and even a few set pods during it. Everything has come back great and I'm starting to get good harvests now. With good draining soil and some dry...

    Paprika has flavor !!!

I'm growing paprika (pcr paprika to be exact) and totally agree. Amazing flavour both fresh and dried. Really wish I'd started more than 3 plants now.

    Big Black Mama (Troy Primo)

I was lucky enough to get seeds from Troy when he did a special a couple of years ago for a free pack of seeds with a sauce purchase. I'm not a fan of most brown pods, but actually enjoyed the flavour of the BBM which surprised me as I dislike the flavour of douglahs. Heat was insane too. Seemed...
