Now I did convert the holes to rows after a few of the flooding incidents (most of my plants were still in solo cups),and the rows rarely ever flooded as bad as just straight holes. I used the rows all of this season and nothing drowned. (I added some sticks/branches/compost at the bottom of the...
I did something in my clay back yard and in the early spring with all the rain it flooded every hole and a lot of the dirt ended up floating up and over out of the hole. I suppose it'd be fine with less heavy rain
I've gotta say, I recently visited Pepper Palace (extremely limited on the time I had there) so I only sampled a couple sauces, but I fell in love with their La Diablesse sauce. It tastes amazing and I was surprised by the ingredient list. Still the best sauce I've tried to date.
I gotta say my grow has been uneventful for the past month. Not a thing has progressed in color or grew at all really. It's been kind of like the plants are frozen in time. Can't say it's been worth worrying about a freeze. Just pulled mine up after a freeze last night.
Overwinter:
P. Dreadie
Black Prince Cross
Chocolate bhut bonchi
A couple unknowns that I think may be chocolate bbg
5ish unknowns that I'm gonna throw in one fairly small container
"fooled you" jalapeño
New:
Bishop's crown
"bird pepper" I got from the bahamas
Manzano from Mexican market pods...
That'd be awesome. I have a pretty limited selection for trade since this is only my second year growing, but if you see anything interesting feel free to ask!
I've got to get out of the habit of sampling pods before weighing. I picked a couple yesterday and ate half of one before thinking about it. I'm convinced these are way hotter than any reaper I've had (I'll get photos when I pick the next ripe ones and weigh them all)
I bring my highest priority plants in first, aka "didn't produce this year and used up all my seeds" or rare in general. Then I chance it and leave the rest out well past first frost date until it actually gets that low. Then the day it's supposed to get that cool, I'll dig up any second-tier...
Awesome sauces TGCM. And I'm jealous of that persimmon haul. I've only had supermarket Fuyus but I'll be damned if they didn't become my favorite fruit after the first bite. I could see them going well with a lot of things though.
