If that is a 10" plate, then those are NOT Cayenne. They are way too fat. In my experience, Cayenne's dont normally get THAT long. They DO look like they were crossed with Cayenne though.

What I did was a I took a few of the mosquito dunks and put them in a sandwich baggie, then broke them up with a hammer. Worked great. Sprinkled it around the base of my plants, watered, and a few days later, no gnats! If you just kill the ones that are flying around, their eggs will pop up...

It doesnt hurt anything to put it on the soil. The only difference is that it will absord into the plant quicker if you foliar feed.
