dehydrators I've got the dehydrator, and the dried peppers. . .

Blender and mason jars is what I use.  Works great and they're already in their storage container, so no transfer necessary.  I get a nice fine grind with that method.

    Polycotyledon

I had a quad cotyledon plant last year.  It grew normal for me.

Ahh, to be able to harvest year round.  That would be so wonderful.  I really envy you brother Jamie.  Harvests look great as always my friend.  How's the back feeling today after laying all that sod?

I call it the Chocolate Dragon

Let it sit on the plants a bit longer and see if it goes to red.  The Jimmy Nardelos I've been growing the past 2 years go from green -> brown -> red.

    for-sale Pepper Powders For Sale

As I get ready to plan out my season for next year, I'm looking to minimize the costs as much as possible (a wife and two kids costs money :P ).  As such, I will be putting some powders up for sale to help offset many of the costs.     I will be selling in 1/2 oz. increments (by weight).  The...

    Wilted

It most likely got shocked from being dug up.  Probably didn't enjoy losing some of it's root mass.  The fact that it is perking up is a good sign.  Just give it more time.

The Pros/Cons of Fir Bark as a Mulch

As a mulch it should not be much trouble.  If it was incorporated into the soil then you would probably experience some issues at least in the first year for acidity, nitrogen robbing, and growth inhibiting due to the lignin found in conifers.

    Compmodder26's 2014 Grow Log - Supers ripening

How can you tell if the soil food web is active in your new RCW  garden bed? Check out the picture below. This is the new bed I built a couple of months ago.

My first stab at a proper sauce, Mango Pineapple Fatalii!

Sauce looks great.  Love the look of the bits of cilantro suspended in the sauce.   As for reducing PH.  You really won't know how much or how little acid to use without having a PH meter to test with.  Having said that, with the amounts of  ingredients you used, it may have been acidic enough...

    Compmodder26's 2014 Grow Log - Supers ripening

Went to the garden today to pick some pods on my lunch.  Latest shot is below.  Got a question for you guys though.  I had to toss 3 pods away today.  They were eaten up pretty bad and all were absolutely covered with ants.  I've never had issues with ants actually eating my pods before, but it...

    Compmodder26's 2014 Grow Log - Supers ripening

Thanks!  Jimmies are one of my favorite peppers too!     Thanks Paul.  If you can't source fresh hardwood, you can always buy the bags of hardwood bark mulch at your local big box store.  It's not as nutrient packed as fresh, but it does still do an excellent job of feeding your plants.  My two...

    Compmodder26's 2014 Grow Log - Supers ripening

Thanks Chris.  I'm not sure what these are crossed with, but the seeds came from a normal looking choco hab pod that I got from Judy last year.  So while the mother was definitely a choco hab, the offspring are most certainly crossed with something.  If I had to guess, I would say something...

Not much to report on.  Plants are continuing as they've been.  Getting quite a few more supers ripening now.   Latest harvest:   Top: White bhut jolokia, not yellow scotch bonnet (think this was supposed to be MOA), monster naga. Middle: bishop's hat, brown moruga scorpion, 7 pot burgundy...

    Compmodder26's 2014 Grow Log - Supers ripening

Sorry for the delay in updating this thing.  Work, vacation and life in general have kept me at bay.  The gardens are doing well though.  Mama brown is ripening a lot more pods as I type this, although none of them are near the size of the behemoths she put out last year.  Hopefully the next...
