Poypoy's 2014 Grow Log - Flowers and Round 2 Sown

Thanks!  They do love the fish tank water.     The hard part will be whittling down my list to 60 or so varieties.  If that.  I think I am going to grow more multiples this year (ie 10 scotch bonnet plants instead of 10 different varieties).  We'll see, so hard to cut plants out.

    Stickman's 2014 Glog- That's all folks!

Nice to see everything looking so well Rick.  I meant to start my Pubescens 3 weeks ago and it totally slipped my mind.

Poypoy's 2014 Grow Log - Flowers and Round 2 Sown

Last night I started my Pubescens so I thought it was about time to get things rolling again here.  This is what I started:   Brown Rocoto Cherry Rocoto Giant Mexican Rocoto Rocoto CAP 217 Red Rocoto Yellow Rocoto Manzano (from Smokemaster)   I did cheat the season a little bit and started some...

Lemon Aji vs Aji Limon vs Lemon Drop?

I haven't seen any upright but that could just be due to my growing conditions.  Pretty sure Aji Lemon is PI 315024 though unless they have a designation with both seed/gene banks.  And if that is the case how do we keep track of these?

Lemon Aji vs Aji Limon vs Lemon Drop?

Aji Limon should have pendant fruit as well.

artwork Been there? Done that? Or one day I dream of starting my own fiery foods business?

How much do you enjoy making hot sauces and hot products?  I enjoy it in moderation myself.  I have a blast until mid-September when the produce piles up and I feel like I am in the kitchen full time.   Another example - I work in IT.  I like my job and enjoy 80% of what I do on a daily basis. ...

seeds When do you start your seeds?

Pubescens will be started tonight actually.  Baccatuums and Chinense will be started mid-late February and Annuums the last weekend in March.  I plant out the last weekend in May or the first weekend in June if that gives you a better sense of the time needed.    Last year I started everything...

Lemon Aji vs Aji Limon vs Lemon Drop?

I agree they should be the same.  Lemon Drop (PI 315024) is a baccatuum though I have seen it listed incorrectly from different vendors as a Chinense.   Reimer and Baker creek both have it listed as a Chinense which aids in the confusion.   Not everything here should be taken as fact but...

    blenders Immersion hand blender

I had a Hamilton Beach one with the clear plastic so you could see the metal shaft through it.  The first batch of tomato soup I made some bled up into the shaft and I could never get it out.  I still used it for two years but during a batch of hot sauce this year the plastic guard got too hot...

    Dear Scovie

Not a fan of either team, but I will be rooting for the 9ers in this game.

    Dear Scovie

Not arguing with the poorly called superbowl.  It was painful to watch.  And yes, I am refering to the fail mary.  Aside from Seahwawks fans I don't know of anyone (experts or otherwise) that would have called that a touchdown.  And that isn't even refering to the pass interference, as like...

    Dear Scovie

Ha, the refs made up for it in the week 3 game last year.  It wasn't a superbowl but it was the gift of a game.

I remember when a team was man enough to win without having an unsafe level of noise.  :)

Thanks Scoville.  I went back to 2009 in the apps and meals section and there weren't any gumbo posts.

So who has a good gumbo recipe they would be willing to share?  There are a ton on the recipe websites but I would love to get one from someone down in the south that knows how to make it right.   Thanks!   Ben

    food Cookies!

So I finally made these Christmas day.  They turned out really well, but they just needed a little bit something more.  I am thinking of just adding some chocolate chips the next time.   Editing to add that I forgot to grab the vanilla out of the fridge for the first pic.         I got the...

    Peach Surprise

The same as an orange carrot.  Home grown carrots do have a much richer earthy taste than store bought.  So I should clarify and say the same as a home grown orange carrot :)     I like the names!

I think Jamaican Yellow Scotch Bonnets.  Enough to give most my family a kick without the taste overwhelming the cookie.
