That's good to know. Even though I dug mine up before our first freeze, right now some of them look like large brown sticks in pots of dirt. So I won't give up on them yet. In many cases, small shoots of growth and new buds will regenerate nutrient highways back up a thought to be dead stem...

I am finally picking some fatalii's and I tried one yesterday. It had a bitter citrus taste, that was followed by heat. I was put off by the taste. Could this be due to cooler weather? It was just too hot here in TX this summer for anything to set until late september. Thanks! Susan

Smiter, I started all my seeds in early January. This was the first time I've grown anything other than serranos and jalapenos. Newb error, tho, not realizing that Aji's, Habs and SB's may take longer to germinate. The Aji's, Habs, SB's were all smaller than what I wanted at plant out. I planted...

Those are in the ground. I don't have much luck with pots and the Texas heat. Plus I've amended my soil with leaves and manure, so it's pretty decent. I also spray with seaweed/fish when I can remember.

Thanks Joe. I'm in the same boat as all the other Texans on here with the extreme summer heat we had. Didn't get much in the spring, but now the plants are loaded, especially the Aji Yellow. Hoping I can get some ripe pods before we get a freeze. Had to cover up stuff last week, had a light...

My Aji Yellow from Joe is nearly 7' tall right now. I'm in the DFW area.

This was the first year I grew anything hotter than a Serrano and was sorely disappointed. Got some decent fruit set on some sweets and milds before June, but nothing much after, until September when it finally cooled off. I can now see that the weather here in DFW adversely affected everyone...
