I think it would look pretty cool if you did a 10% gradient from left to right in maybe a burnt tan or charcoal black color...

Great job on all the logos, they look great. I think the Black and Yellow looks great aswell but I voted for the Black and Red because it seems to go along with the popping heat theme to me, although now that I think of it, so does the B&Y logo.
