To me, the problem is not expensive gas, but the rapid weakening of the US Dollar. Recent monetization of the US debt (they like to call it "Quantitative easing" or "Asset Purchases" more recently.
Here's the problem:
I've always had a fantastic results with pure neem oil and a little bit of castile soap. It's not instant knockdown but it thwarts and messes up reproductive cycles in pest insects. Applied every 10 days for 3 applications then as needed, it is really effective and extremely safe.
You should drop them off a small red 7-pot and tell them it's one of those Mexibell peppers. You know - only around 3,000 SHU. The guy behind the counter should try it.
:-D <hehehehe>
All other things being equal, count on 12-15 Watts of LEDs covering no more than 2.25 Sq Ft. That's a tad over 6 Watts per square foot, which is really efficient when you consider that HID growers typically use 25-40 W/SF. So on the low end, your 250W HPS covers ~ 10 SF reliably. To achieve the...
I'm up the road from you outside of Carlisle. Welcome to THP! Got lots of pods up here - Bhut & Bih Jolokias, Scorps, Fatalis plus old-schoo serranos and really wonderful red savinas.
Happens to best of us, man! Don't fret too much and look at the brighter side - this is more time for yourself and your loved ones and money can't buy time. Whenever I'm feeling down I just spend time with my peppers in the garden and get a great sense of peace out of that. Crack open a cold one...

Saw a caterpillar dead hanging off a T-Scorp a few weeks ago. Should have taken a picture - guess the Scorps are hot enough this year!
I got some Butch-T powder from Justaguy on here - he smokes peppers with cherry wood and then grinds them into a powder. Got me a packet of it and I sprinkle on my food. It's awesome and doesn't need refrigeration. I'd write him a PM because he really knows what he's doing.
After 40 pounds of onions and I don't know how many bushels of tomatoes I worship my mandolin slicer. What kind of knife do you use when you have to cut 50+ lbs of jalapenos? Thanks!
It's official! I'm moving to Maine in less than 6 weeks! Hooray! This means I'll have a greenhouse (or two) soon. Will still be growing superhots in USDA zone 4b :-D
Those look delicious SalsaLady! I made some pickled peppers last week but did not process this in a hot water bath - just a pH of 3.4 in the jars hot packed then stored in the fridge. Even with a case of jars it rarely lasts more than 3 months so I think I'm OK.
Do you keep your water bath'd...
