    breeding Interesting Cross

I really like the look of that. some interesting surprises are always good, especially if there's a "stinger" involved! discovering the taste and heat is next!

indoor Indoor Plants Have to Get Out

Hey Patrick. they'll probably be happier outside, but don't give up on indoor hope if you really want indoor plants. I have a few indoors that have lots of peppers, including ripe ones on them already. The flower drop is definitely going to be more indoors, but finger or paint brush...

Do you prefer your super hots over your others?

i pretty much agree with the others. superhots are just too much to sit around munching on but I find it hard to get a habanero sauce hot enough so I've been trowing in a few 7's to kick things up a notch. Now I never have to eat another extract sauce again (thankfully!). Habs are my everyday...

    harvesting 1st Harvest

thanks madhatter. yeah those were pumpkin habs and scotch bonnets from Pepper Joe. I'm not too surprised with the pumpkin habs turning out to be orange habs but I was hoping that they grew differently, like rounder congo type habs. there wasn't a lot of orange in the garden anyways until...

    harvesting 1st Harvest

thanks guys. pretty excited to get some fresh hot sauce going. Patrick, I got a few surprises from Pepper Joe's, but the other 4 varieties I got from him are growing true and looking great, so I can't complain too much. i know you can't control the odd surprise from time to time, but did...

    Sky's 2010 season.

awesome pods. coming in fast and furious. the yellow 7 looks really cool and doesn't look like the antillais wants there to be more leaves than pods on it!

    harvesting 1st Harvest

i started indoors early. some in Jan, some in Feb, some in March. Mid-Feb seems like a perfect start time in these parts to get things rolling nicely. Half in ground, half in pots. Everything is producing nicely, but I do prefer the plants in 5 or 7 gallon containers which seem to be really...

    harvesting 1st Harvest

Well, it's not much but I'm happy with the start to the season. I think Sept 1 was my first harvest last year so can't complain! Top row : 1. "Madballz 7" - The 7 / Choco Bhut cross we hope to stabalize (lethal!). 2. A surprise pepper that was supposed to be a bhut..it's a Habanero type...

This pepper put the hurt on me!

definitely looks exactly like Aji Limon / Lemon Drop. Leaves and all. But no green on the inside of the flowers? should be interesting to see the final color. here's my Limon this year.

    Silver Surfer's 2010 Grow

dense, green, full, healthy, lots of pods, not sign of growth stopping = dream plants! You can't get better, and it's sill June! That "yellow" hab has very cool pods. Strange that it's orange. i wish my orange habs grew like that. what are you going to do with that "motley crue" harvest?

    Canadian Earthquake

Anyone else feel that? Canada doesn't get earthquakes, what's going on? It was a 5.0 at the Quebec/Ontario border and felt all through Ontario / Northern US. Wondering if any New York / Pennsylvania / Ohio / Michican people felt it too. Ottawa area guys like Potawie would have been really...

Why are orange habs easier to grow than other chinenses?

I've noticed that as well. Caribbean reds for me are producing like mad. It's only 2nd to the red Scorpion which is producing insane amounts of pods. Orange habs seem to be the same as all the others though. I don't think there's any exact science behind it, only environmental / growing...

breeding "Rusty" 7Pot / Choco Bhut Cross

Well, this cross was actually an unexpected surprise. Not sure where the cross actually took place, but originally the plant was supposed to be Chocolate Bhut. The pods then started having a lot of 7 characteristics and it certainly ended up with the 7's heat and brown/red mixed coloring...

What fertilzers are your choice ferts ?

20-20-20 water soluble with micro nutrients is what I use but I find in a garden with the run off that I'm not sure how much is actually being absorbed. I've been trying a 10-10-10 slow absorption pellet fert lately to see how it goes. I also add sheep manure. I don't like to get things too...
