The only one I have growing is a tiny CAP 1492. It hasn't even flowered even though I've been told that it's supposed to like colder climates. I have seeds for orange manzanos from a couple of different sourzes that I'll be trying next year.

What is it about rain that makes my plants grow so fast?

How does the air smell before a rain? How does it smell during and right after a rain? If you can tell the difference the plants can probably too. Total pseudoscience - I know! But a rain does not only make the roots wet, it also raises the humidity and cleans/feeds the foliage which might...

    Win!

My honest opinion is that his yard is the one sticking out. I can appreciate that he seems to be trying hard but as Davetaylor said: "And his symmetry is out of whack, 2 lions, 1 handrail and 1 light and the fact that the imitation victorian streetlamp is white makes it even more tacky, the...

    breeding Question on Cross Pollination

Inbreeding depression is caused by "doubling up" of bad genes, the same way but opposite as the way heterosis are caused by "diluting the genes". We want to make the plant homozygos when it comes to the desired traits (that's what 'stabilizing' is all about) - but how do we avoid inbreeding...

    breeding Question on Cross Pollination

How do you avoid inbreeding depression if you want to keep a strain pure? Say an heirloom like Datil - or Scoch Bonnet TFM or Brain Strain? We isolate flowers/plants because we want to avoid cross breeding and encourage inbreeding.

harvesting How long can a ripe pod stay on the plant before harvesting ?

Yes it does. The purpose of the plant is to reproduce ==> produce ripe seeds which means ripe fruit. They have nothing to gain and everything to lose if they flower and set more fruit when they have fruits ripening or ripe fruits on them. Isn't evolution wonderful?

    XXLarge 7POD

A huge chinense? Yes? A new 7 pod or 8, 9 10, 11 pod? No. Let's get real. We can't orgasm about everything we see, and we can't arbitrary name what we see. It might be a language thing, but I don't get where this thing came from.

    I hate meeces to pieces

Squirrels are opportunistic feeders, they eat pretty much everything they can, tiny seeds or baby birds - it's all food to them. And they are fairly heavy so they could destroy a chileplant just by investigating it... tasting the fruit witch might not be hot if it isn't ripe enough (food!) and...

wanted [WANTED] Wild Dagga, Klip Dagga and Marahuanilla

I have four Leonurus sibiricus going and I'm going to transplant them from pots to my raised bed as they are supposed to be perennials here. (Siberian motherwort). I'm not to sure about the use of these because the swedish name translates to "Siberian heartstop". Perfectly legal though, but some...
