    Hardening off...for a second time!

I just leave them on, if they aren't producing any food for the plant they will fall off on their own.

    White Habs

I bought my seeds from Vincent at rooftop peppers and decided to plant 2 just to see if they were any good. Both popped and are growing nicely.

    Hardening off...for a second time!

glad to see im not the only one that takes this approach. I've always just thought of it as killing off the weak winter leaves that can't take the intense sun and kind of kickstarting the spring growth. Peppers are resilient plants, they will survive a lot more than most people think.

    With this help?

Ya it's the same basic thing, I like to use both bloodmeal and bonemeal in my soil mixes. Usually that stuff is mixed in with with the soil before you plant/transplant, but you can also sprinkle a bit on the surface of the soil and water it in. Be aware that it will take awhile to break down...

    Flat-stem phenotype

One of my fish peppers flattens out like that for one node length and resumes growing with a regular round stem. They are definitely a strange plant. Yours looks pretty cool, I'd definitely keep it growing

What story is this leaf telling?

+1 to giving them some room to breathe. I had the exact same problem and once I moved them apart the spots disappeared. Maybe get a fan in there for better air circulation as well.

    Pod issue, any ideas?

Even if your tap water is high in calcium, it doesn't mean it's readily available to your plants. Hit it with some cal-mag and it should smarten up

pests Nicotine tea as pest control?

I tried it and fried some young plants last year. Be careful of your dosage of nicotine, probably best to find a recipe from a trusted source. I just winged it and payed the price for it.

What kind of problem is it?

I used to use tums dissolved in white vinegar to make calcium acetate. I would let a few dissolve for a week in some vinegar and use it like you would cal-mag. I have since gotten sick of the smell of vinegar and just use commercially made cal-mag.

    hardening

I actually get direct sunlight for 3-4 hours a day through my window and I just throw my plants out on the deck for a few hours whenever it's warm enough to do so. Direct sun for 5+ hours hasn't burnt them yet, granted the direct sun I expose them to now is nowhere near the intensity of the...

    Stems too small?

This pot is only for another month or so until I can get it into a 7 gallon smart pot outside. I turned it away from the light to get a better picture. Although I have massively overgrown the area around my window. Thanks for all the other responses, I guess I will have to throw a tomato stake...

    Stems too small?

I have a few super hots growing this year where the stems are disproportionately smaller than the rest of the plants. I have had a fan on them since they popped and have had it set to keep the leaf canopy swaying 24/7 for 3 months, but the stems haven't gotten any bigger. Does anyone know of...

    container Yield Container vs Garden

This is true, I thought we were talking soil. I'd imagine tho that if you had a massive garden size hydro container, it would produce more than a average pot sized hydro setup

    container Yield Container vs Garden

more room for roots equals a bigger plant which equals a bigger yield. Unless you are using those massive tree pots, a garden will beat pots every time. The problem is, unless you have a cold frame over your peppers, you might not get fully developed/ripe pods before the killing frost comes.

    Promix HP preparation question

My pro-mix HP says it has been inoculated right on the label. I havent added any compost to my pots, but I can't see it hurting anything.

    hydroponic want to try hydroponics

Honestly, your best resource for beginning to grow hydro is usually cannabis sites. These guys grow plants for a living and get amazing results. A lot sites have forums with updated info on equipment deals and such. As for nutrients, choose a line that is easily available in your area, so that...

    hydroponic Hydroponic nutrients?

I use the advanced nutrients Ph-perfect 3 part line. I like them because I don't have to worry about adjusting PH all the time. I have also used the general hydroponics 3 part line with good results. I usually tone down the amount of the 'grow' component that I add because chills don't require...

    Canadian Pepper Growers

:welcome: from Edmonton As said above, start your seeds early, and overwinter any plants you'd like to keep going the next season. Don't' be discouraged if you don't get any pods on your plants the first year, it happens up here sometimes. You might want to try germinating seeds in a nice...

    annuum Huge Jalapenos

I make poppers out of anaheims all the time, I just chop up some Habs or scotch bonnets and put them in with the filler (usually cream cheese). Definitely tasty results
