my best advice is just jump in and start buying a bunch of hot sauces, be it directly from the maker or from a big hot sauce seller website iwth different brands. pick what you like for flavors & just BUY!  you've heard alot of brand names here just start trying...they're all good in their own...

I'd stick to using mexican chiles like guajillo, pasilla, chipotle morita, new mexico chiles, puya, de arbol, smoked serrano. for a chilli hot sauce. thats the chiles I use when making chilli for the main flavor, gives it a good flavor, for major heat I add what i have on hand fresh/powder/sauce...

if you were to pick 6 varities of chile's to grow, 1 plant each...though it'd be for several years. and forget about the type you can buy in stores, yea yea the ones you grow are better but you can get them in the store !   which would you pick ?   I'm curious to hear what others would choose...

I ran out of superthrive & doubt I'll be able to find anymore of it around here cuz of the season. plus some states stopped selling that stuff for certain reasons (by law I think)

I know chiles are hardy plants, just wondering if others have done this. for wintering/trying to keep growing inside....take the plants out of container, shake old dirt off & maybe wash the roots to get rid of any critters, & repot with new fresh soil.   was it a big shock to the plants or not...

I have a plan on what design I'd like to build for a vertical smoker/grill, since I'm not finding what I'd like in other smokers.   (steel) what gauge for thickness would you recommend using ? extreme lightweight is not top of list...but a tank is neither LOL. just want it to last & most likely...
