    vendor whitehotpeppers

Got my seeds today. Justin included five extra varieties on top of the order. His seeds have proven to easily sprout for myself so I use them. I had concerns about the covid delays on shipping and he had put an extra page describing the delays he has been experiencing and what to expect as a...

    Growing in the white stuff

Look what showed up in the mail.. 16 days from Justin to yours truly which isn't that bad considering a border crossing plus the covid. I really should have read the covid alert thingie he put up on getting tracking numbers. I read it afterwards lol. Don't catch the covies!

    DF 2020 Glog

The Hat keeps getting all the precipitation. Just a skiff here so far but the wind sure is blowing. About 10 inches forecast until tomorrow. I hope you are able to dig out DF. Heck, I hope I am able to dig out!

    Growing in the white stuff

Thanks. I have some health issues to take care of first. I am located in the Saskatchewan capital, somewhat east of DF in Medicine Hat. I'm far enough east of him that I don't get those chinooks he does. I get hard freezes and no thawing in between usually. The wind speeds I experience in the...

    Growing in the white stuff

I'm at 50 N. and with dry, but still humid continental climate. Being in the interior there is a lot of variation. I had never gone the distance with fussing over plants before this year. I am undecided if I should do that again given I may not have the time I had this year. Still, it is a good...

    Growing in the white stuff

Thanks but I've learned where the success is and it is sticking with more annuum varieties. Without being adjacent to a building I'm going to have to stick to 75 days. Near a building another 10 from the heat island effect, and under a tent for anything more than that. But at least I know where...

    DF 2020 Glog

For whatever reason there was a wilt that got into my annuums which passed onto the habs. The tomatoes all got it. Anyways that set them back but they started to size up in Oct. under the tent and started ripening shortly thereafter. This was the latest season ever but I was trying to push the...

    PaulG 2020

"Funny, the MoA is one of only three Bonnet types that have produced well and with a decent phenotype. The other two were TFM and Beth Boyd. Our weather here is just not hot long enough to get the spot-on pods, unless I select my own seed for a few seasons, then some nice pods appear more...

    Growing in the white stuff

Good ideas Paul. I have one string of C9 bulbs in the Christmas box. I'll need another two.   The nights are going to turn sharply below freezing. The days will barely be above freezing. Snow is forecast in the next 10 days. Considering I am having peppers go bad I decided to harvest to cut my...

    Growing in the white stuff

Question for you Paul. Would you chose the mini incandescence or the larger C9  bulbs. One has more lights but are smaller, one has larger bulbs to give off more heat. Which would be warmer?

    ShowMeDaPowda!!!

That is exactly how I ended up with my cheapo grinder. The chopper used for baking is way coarse and the coffee grinder grinds a little too fine. But after the grinding the reapers both were permanently mine!

    ShowMeDaPowda!!!

I guess this is the thread to post progress. Right now I am just am doing enough for sampling. I do like the Red Scorpion flakes very much but got little production. The best is the Urfa Biber but I think I need to take more care in the drying process. Now to find recipes that can use the...

    Growing in the white stuff

Getting ready for harvest. Yellow Scorpions ready, red, not quite there yet. Habs are just putzing for whatever reason.I'm just glad I've been able to keep things alive considering how many chilly nights we've had for Sept.

    First attempt with Sauce Making

I think I may add a bit more salt next time. To me it was flat. From the link,    "1 teaspoon vegetable oil, 18 peppers fresh Scotch Bonnet [I used Scotch Brains] peppers, sliced and seeded, 6 peppers fresh jalapeno peppers, sliced, 6 cloves garlic, crushed, ½ cup minced onion, ¾ teaspoon...

    First attempt with Sauce Making

First attempt at hot sauce. I went the cooking route instead of the fermented because I'm new to this. Garlic at first then screaming hot. I used this recipe. https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/152262/scotch-bonnet-hot-sauce/   My particular land race of scotch bonnets is very very mild. It grows...

food Orange Spice, Habanada and pineapple jelly

Looks good! Today I made some strawberry with peach ghost and my apricot habanero with devil's tongue jelly today too. I had to tone down the strawberry ghost to half strength. The full strength recipe was a little much.

    Ripening a pepper

I think I may try that next year Fermenting Spanishtan.

    Ripening a pepper

Thanks DF. It would be easier to work with peppers than whole plants. Like this.

    Ripening a pepper

I had a pretty hard frost here. Everything in the hoop house made it. Every plant that was in ground I picked the ripest pods and left the rest. I pulled everything in the ground fearing if I didn't I'd find mushiness the next morning. I am having two varieties go in this direction already. I am...
