Hey, that's cool... I tried something similar in a plastic container a while back, but it got moldy so I paniced and threw it out. I'll definitely be trying it again after seeing your experiment! :)

Oh, I think if you grind them up to a nice powder it should work just fine... There might be some benefits to it that I'm not aware of though...

    seeds i have my seed..but

I've not only heard it, I've experienced it... I ordered three varieties from them this year (all chinenses) and only my Red Savinas germinated and even then the germination rate was poor. Same thing with Hippy... The only ones that worked well for me were from PepperLover, with which I had more...

    seeds Starting seeds

Yeah, I've never used any heat either and as long as the seeds are good they all (well, more than 80% at least) germinate within a week or so using the paper towel in a baggie/cup method and usually two to three weeks in soil (which I don't do anymore).

    health Black spots and holes

It's not necessarily coincidental, but it's not water droplets acting as "magnifying glasses" either. Rain could have all kinds of junk in it, plus when it's bombarding the ground nasty stuff can get lifted from the ground and land on your leaves. Also, the increased humidity and a nice warm day...

    health Black spots and holes

That's a myth, you know? The water droplets would have to be suspended above the leaf in order to have the undesired effect and they would have to stay there for an extended period of time - more than it takes for them to evaporate, especially if the light is actually strong enough to...

seeds My seedling keep losing leaves!

Thanks! Yeah, I got some seed from Hippy actually, not the Savinas - but I got some red habaneros which I imagine should be kind of in the same "category" as far as growing goes. Pre-germiation commencing as we speak! :woohoo: (plus I got some other annums just in case I suck really badly...

seeds My seedling keep losing leaves!

Right? After all the trial and error to find out it was out of my control? Yuck! But, hey - now I know a hell of a lot more about growing chilies than I did a couple of months ago, I know how to water them properly, I know how much light/heat they need, I've got the hardware all set...

seeds My seedling keep losing leaves!

Yeah, baby! Same soil (except a bit of vermiculite sprinkled on top a couple of days ago), same procedure, same ferts (or lack there of), same light, same temperature, same humidity, same everything... ...different seed. I don't know, I guess it's either a bit tougher because it's...

    Epsom Salts - Why?

It's magnesium sulfate (MgSO4ยท7H2O). You can get it anywhere, I got mine at the pharmacy, just because I needed a significantly smaller quantity than what was offered at the local garden center... As with any other ferts, I'd wait for 2-3 sets of true leaves before giving it to them.
