    breeding Cross Pollination

Yep, every year. I am on my now 4th generation of Bhut Jolokia seeds that I aquired back in 2009 and they have grown true each season, I dont see why this season should be any different. I grow my super hots along the back fence of my yard where they get sun ALL DAY LONG and they do great. Each...

    water Hydro Water Temp?

The chamber is in my bedroom with the rest of my plants, they get lonely if I put them in the back room. I have the electric fireplace temp set at 69 and it stays right there according to the thermometer on the wall. I added sight tubes to my hydro buckets and marked out 1 and 2 gallon levels...

    water Hydro Water Temp?

Ok, so I thought a good way to increase the temp in my hydro grow chamber would be to put a heat mat under the buckets. It is working, the temp in the chamber is a constant 80-81 degrees, but the water temp in the buckets is also this same temp. Is this bad for the plant or the nutrients?

Is "Worlds Hottest" just a myth for the backyard garden?

I remember eating my first superhot and thinking "I can eat a habanero like it is candy, this shouldnt be a problem". MAN! Was I wrong! It was a whole new ball game indeed. Growing superhots really isnt hard and getting scortching pods isnt either. Personally I feel the plants produce hotter...

A Ridiculously Improvised DWC Hydro Setup. (Now a grow log!)

I love DIY systems and ideas Shig, keep them coming. I actually read your post before I went to work last night and kept thinking about it all night long. I have a love for brussell sprouts (ewwwwwww, right?), califlower and broccoli, but can never seem to get it to grow in the soil in my...

New grower seeking advice on super hots

Hmmm I am going to try this, I have noticed that areas in the center are hotter than the edges. Thanks for the tip.

    Hydro Question...

That does make sense. I am wondering if a 3-1-3-1-3-1-3-1-3-1-3-1 cycle would work? (3 hours on and 1 hour off) Or is that just over doing it? Would be 2 hours extra light in a 24 hr period, dont know if it would be good or bad or non-productive at all.

    Hydro Question...

Ok so the plant is green and seems happy. It is nice and perky most the time but after about 10 hours of light (I have it on a 16/8 cycle), the leaves at the bottom start to droop. The temp is below 80 all the time, normally around 72 degrees lights off and around 78 degrees lights on. The...

seeds Germination with Bhut Jolokia and Brain Strain

Yep, its a waiting game with the super hots. You wait and wait and wait and then they decide to pop up. I have had some superhots take upto a month to germinate. Also, like suggested, keep them warm and moist (not wet). I have gotten my best germination around 85 degrees +/- 3 degrees or so.

    soil Hydro vS Soil

The system is basically complete, minus instructions and nutrients, but it is easy to setup if you just look at it. Main thing is rinse the Hydroton to get the dust out of it so it doesnt clog up on the airstone. Easiest way I have found is put the Hydroton into a washing machine "sweater bag"...

    soil Hydro vS Soil

I am giving it a try this year also Meg, on a limited scale and so far I am seeing results, even within the first almost 2 weeks the plant is greener and bigger. And as far as Shigs link goes, yep, thats the one I got, then realised how easy it is to piece together. LOL

    Heating Mats

These are the exact ones I use... http://www.ebay.com/...=item1e675a494e In a room with a temperature of 70 degrees I can maintain 85 degrees in a Burpee 36 hole mini greenhouse. I dont recommend these though as the grow media included sucks! I still use it cause I already have it, but I either...

seeds Germinating Medium for Hot Peppers

Last year I used Miracle Grow potting soil in a disposable tray with a humidity dome, worked great, this year it isnt working for me so I am trying some Rockwool. The main thing is to keep the medium moist but not wet. A heating mat will also aid in germination, use a seedling heating mat, not a...

    hydroponic Hydroponic Experiment, The Beginning

I picked up a 45 count block of Rockwool and a 10 Litre bag of Hydroton from my favorite Nursery. Going to wash some more Hydroton tonight and fill the net upto the top, it would probably be ok, but for some reason it bothers me, plus they gave me a great deal on the 10 Litre bag since it was...

hydroponic Hydroponic Experiment, Need your opinions

Ok The Trinidad 7 Pot Brain Strain Yellow is the WINNER!!! I started 3 seeds today in Rockwool along with 8 other varieties I havent grown yet. They are sitting quietly in their little hot house awaiting for life to come. Really not alot to show, so I am not going to post a picture at this time...

    hydroponic Hydroponic Experiment, The Beginning

Here is the sample pack I received today from X-Nutrients, should be enough to last me a couple months following the bottle directions. Says to use 15ml of solution per gallon of water, so I added 37.5ml of grow and 37.5ml of micro to the 2 1/2 gallons in the hydro bucket. Here is the package I...

    yield Prolific Peter Pepper

I grew them 2 years ago and was very disappointed with the actual "look" of the pepper. All the pictures I have seen must be extremely selected off multiple plants and yes, you have to have a vivid imagination to actually see what they are supposed to be. Taste wise, they didnt have much, a...

    hydroponic Hydroponic Experiment, The Beginning

Well it has been 24 hours and it is still alive and looking really good! Not a ounce of shock at all, I was very worried it would die, but this morning brought me hope. Still looks the same, so no pics today, although I am proud of it :D :D :D
