music What Are You Listening To Right Now?

“I put my money in your meter baby so it won’t run down”. Classic! Waiting for Columbus may be my favorite LF album. To this day, the Lowell George era LF does not receive the “popular” recognition they deserved. Saw them live a couple times during that...

food Chile inspired Christmas dessert ideas?

Thanks to everyone for their recipes and suggestions. I’ve decided on making a New York style raspberry cheesecake with a dark chocolate crème sauce laced with my “death powder” (mix of bhuts, 7 pot jonah and others). Should be fun taste testing the sauce for the right...

    Pi's must try beer list.

On my radar: RR Pliney’s – not distributed in this area so will be hard to come by. RR – actually anything from them, lots of quality commentary on the interwebs. 3F’s Zombie Dust and Dreadnaught – next time I’m heading to Chicago. Cantillion Lambic &ndash...

    BEER!

Oh man, don’t mess with my illusion! KBS (and CBS) have attained a near mythical status complete with long lines at release parties, inflated prices and rationing. My one bottle of KBS was obtained at the Founders release by a good friend and beer hipster that lives in the GR area. Even...

    BEER!

Yes, this is a very nice porter especially at a fairly regular sale price of $7.99 this year. You may also want to try the Founders porter. IMHO the Founders is very well balanced and creamy smooth taste without being overly sweet. Founders nails their porters and stouts. Bell's still is a...

food Chile inspired Christmas dessert ideas?

Trying to come up with a dessert for Christmas utilizing my chile stash. I have mild and hot in dried, frozen and powdered forms. So far I've not been able to come up with that "wow" dessert. Any ideas THP? TIA.

    BEER!

Yep, readily avaliable here in Mi. Thought their IPA was outstanding, right there with my favorite. Also enjoyed the Ruination DIPA. However the Cali-Belgique (sp.) was meh and not a fan of strong ales so Arrogant Bastard, did not like. Definately will try another bomber of the IPA. Not to...

    smokers Electric Smoker Suggestions/Reviews???

Agree on the Bradley; as mentioned ^, it had a terrible rack setup. The floor salesman tried to tell me this was the best one they sell. Really? Like you, I have amble supply of free wood (maple, oak, apple, etc.) from my own property and in the area (I live in a rural setting). I might as...

    smokers Electric Smoker Suggestions/Reviews???

Never bothered to figure out cost factors; however, just a hunch that electric & propane would be cheaper than charcoal in the long run. Not really concerned with the issue. FWIW, I have been using “cowboy charcoal”; chunk charcoal that I get at Home Depot. Believe it is a little cheaper per...

    preservation Pepper Picks For Pickling

Just checked on Lando's link (semillas.de) and listing for chupetinhO also called bequinho. Then there is the chupetinhA from Potawie and Chileman.org. I'm not a stickler when it comes to all this pepper nomenclature; I just thought it was a cool looking pepper, apparently prolific...

That is a very interesting looking pepper. Chupetinho = Chupetinha (Pimenta Bico) ? http://www.thechileman.org/results.php?find=chupetinha&heat=Any&origin=Any&genus=Any&chile=1 Above says they are mild, is that your experience? preservation Pepper Picks For Pickling

If whole, I poke a few holes in them with a toothpick just to let the vinegar get inside. Do not know if it is essential, it's just my habit. Usually halve jalapenos so that I can get rid of most of the damn seeds.
