What are these guys and are they good or bad? I've seen a few on my eggplants as pictured and I sometimes see them on my chilli's also. I have been killing them so far cause I don't know what they are... but not sure if I should be.

I have an Orange Hab and a Jalapeno that are flowering. With the Hab sometimes the flowers turn to little pods then fall off other times the flowers just fall off. The Jalapeno always seems to make the little pod, but then they fall off. Here is a pic of one that fell off the Jalapeno

A bird or bug of some sort ate the top off of one of my Bih Jolokia seedlings at the moment the little stem is still green but considering that it has no leaves now will this be a certain death for this little fella?
