2010 Grow Log

I've needed to get this going so here goes. The following list was started Jan. 25. It is my first time trying hydro. Got it pieced together just in time to get my chinense varieties started. It's an ebb and flow setup in nursery trays placed end to end with heat mat, under 40w flouros which I later added a six position bath bar with cfl's to the wall behind my plants in the grow area which is 5' tall 6' wide and 2' deep. If my lumen math is correct for adult plants (3000 lpsf) would be 180,000 lumen s total and @ 2000 lpsf I would need 120,000 lumen s. That is seven more of the twenty dollar 6 pos bath bars. Two on the ceiling and 5 more on the wall. That is just insane which is sad because I think my wife already thinks I'm there. My kids thoroughly enjoy it! Not sure what I will do (lighting wise) for the two or three adult plants that I would like in there year round. I think I was just planning to start seeds this way and pot up once or twice in the hydro setting and then change to a soil medium and hopefully warmer outside temps.

Siling, I believe there are some differences. This is the purple flash I got from a local nursery. To me it looks like a cross between a fish pepper and an ornamental but I'm only guessing. I do not know about the tri-fetti, but I am growing something called Purple glow in the dark from Amishland heirloom seeds http://www.amishlandseeds.com/index.htm

It looks totally different than the flash at it's current stage. I'll get a photo up. It may or may not be the same as the Flourescent purple listed here; http://www.thechileman.org/results.php?chile=1&find=fluorescent+purple&heat=Any&origin=Any&genus=Any&submit=Search

Red 7 pot/pod asiagardens have 3 of 7 plants that ripened yellow. I can't complain they taste great. Not as hot though

Bishops Crown "strange" as labeled by smokemaster This plant is approx 2.5 feet tall

From the same Bishops Crown "strange" seed pack this dwarfish plant with different color. Both are prolific but I suspect not what BishopC should look like. They both taste good with mild heat noticeable with a big bite. I am growing Aji Orchid, Campane, and Chapeau de Frade and they are all similar but differ from these odd Bishops.

That Jamaican Gold is a cool looking pod, got some mushroom peppers that look very similar. Is it as tasty as it looks?

wow! youl be harvesting truckloads this year. good strains! that yellow rocotto (manzano) is so good. i had mine for 3 years and didn't get it inside before winter. been kicking myself every since. happy growing!

Hey Skydiver, the Jamaican has a great flavor, with thin skin and lots of seeds. Good heat too!

Naganumbness, I've been trying to find the best place in my yard for the Manzano's I've got going. I dug up the orange I had in the ground and the hottest part of the yard. Its in a 20 gal small tree pot now and seems to be quite happy. Maybe I'll get some pods this year. I'm thinking of doing the same with the yellow that is in the ground too. I hope to overwinter a dozen or so plants this year.

Here are some more pics. Little Nubian aka sore throat pepper from Amishland seeds

I did not post much during the harvest months. I am going to wind down this 2010 grow log with a few pics of the overwintering. It's hard to settle on just a few and before you know it I've got fifty plants on my back porch.

I really enjoyed making the puree's like AJ. I've got a couple more yet to do, another South American group and Mexico. Can't wait!

Here are some more pics;
Happy Holidays everyone!
