2018 Southern Hemisphere Grow Down-Under

Hi All

It's getting to that stage where we need to plan the next growdown.

I can supply the Aji Cito seeds, but will need to get them posted pretty quick so get voting

I also have no issue if we go with something else, but will need to order in good time as it takes ages to get to NZ

If you vote 'Something Else' post a suggested variety

Poll closes Friday 27th April

General Rules
  • GROWDOWN BEGINS 21st JUNE
  • Seeds to be started on or after start date
  • Germinate and grow as many as you want
  • All grow styles and techniques welcome
  • Only one plant can count towards your entry
  • Nominate your growdown plant at first weigh in
  • Weigh each harvest, and post picture of pods on scales here
  • Heaviest total weight of pods in one year from start will be the winner
  • Honour system - If you cheat the Aphid Gods will know

Another 3 weigh ins from the last week or two... unfortunately there are no more pods on my plant. I had a huge amount of blossom drop before more fruit set when we had a heat wave. There's a few flower buds coming on again now so I might sneak some more in before the end of the growdown

total is 147 pods @ 283 grams

Nice looking pods, fellas. Sorry about the heat drop, 'Thag.
You still have quite a bit of late grow season left, right?

Understandable, but I don't want to leave them on the plant for longer than necessary for fear of them being hit by the fruit fly.

My plant still has many pods left on it, plus a lot of smaller ones just growing and lots of flowers as well. These things just keep on giving.

Same here, full of flowers and small pods , I can't wait for slightly cooler weather in March and April .
That should take average pod size up.

Finally another weigh in. I chose the wrong plant. this was my strongest plant but its in a pot. one of the smaller Citos i planted in the garden and forgot about is smashing it. Twice the size. Still not producing as many pods many of your plants though.

It looks like the fruit fly problem has
abated, Bob. Pods look nice and fresh!
Yes mate, things have been going a lot better. Still getting some losses but nowhere near as much, kind of at an almost acceptable level now but they are still there.

My plant is still hardening off, should have used 50SPF instead of 30
 You can't be too careful!

Podding up nicely....
If it's podding up like that all over,
you will have a shipload of pods!

Good work Scott, your mojo is
strong, and your magic is workin'!
