2019 Grow in Slovenia, europe

Greetings all!

This is my first thread and im planning to write about this year hot peppers grow in Slovenia, Europe. At the moment, we are in the middle of winter, temperatures reaching -15 degrees Celsius and i already started on seedlings for next year. Im planning to grow several different strains, specifics mentioned in the bottom. I will plant the strongest seedling of every strain in the pot, placing outside my house, where they will be getting almost full day of sun. the rest of them will be grown in my garden or smaller raised beds. So far, i have 5 strong seedlings of Tiger skin - purple pheno and 4 seedlings of carolina reaper, seeds for both were bought on ebay, so idont have any guarantee that plants are what are they suppost to be; in any case, i will grow it. The rest of the seeds i will put into soil in the middle of January.

Posted pictures represent current state and seeds collection for this year.

Yes, they are. I found out yesterday some unknown strains also sprouted. The orange ones as i call them, some small chilies and red cherry small. Others, like chocolate habs, NuMex suave red, ghost, carolina etc...are still not showing anything yet..

The c. chinense part of your seeds can be stubborn, indeed.
My longest this round was 20 days, although I'm still waiting
on three.

Glad to hear some of the others are germinating for you, Good
luck going forward, Petrac!

Today I came back home and i was pleasantly surprised. Almost all seeds are sprouted, only Butch T and Carolina Reaper are still hiding. Im slowly loosing hope. I think its about a month since i planted those seeds. Im thinking about topping 2 of the tiger skin plants. Do you think they're old enough, or should i wait a bit more?

Looks like great germination, Petrac!

Topping depends on how many main branches
you want to have. cutting just above the sixth
or eighth leaf will give you some wiggle room.
You can always cut down to a lower leaf node
later. These are two Red Rocotos I topped eleven
days ago. This picture after 9 days:

My own rule of thumb is be conservative until you
get a handle on it. It's easier to cut a bit more off
than to glue a bit back on

I decided to wait a bit. they still look a bit fragile, and since here in SLO we can put out plants in garden after 1st May, i have plenty of time left to experiment. Also today I found a few seedlings of Trinidad Scorpion Butch. it looks like my germination was success.

Yeah, wait until you have at least 4 or 5 good
nodes before topping.  When I see tiny branch
tips start emerging from the base of the leaves,
I give them a few days and then top the plants.

Today i separated cherry small, the orange one and the Damjan ones, which were way too crowded and too tall. There is about 16-19 plants of each. Others are still in first pots, waiting to get bigger or sprout.

Today I bought some fertilizers for later in year, I chose plagron PK (0-13-14). I think they will love it later on, since i think there will be enough N in soil already. Im planning to put them into Humin substran N8 soil.

If you want to use this fertilizer as well, I suggest you look in your nearest store that sells stuff for growing weed. It is apparently made specifically for that  :)

Today I separated chocolate and red habs into individual pots and one unusually fast ghost got his own cup as well. So, at the moment I counted 78 plants in individual cups, there are also a few small habs and ghosts i have not separated yet, same goes for my poor carolinas, orange numex suave and Scorpions Butch T's. In May, when i will transplant them outside, there will be way over 100 plants. My mom is freaking out because i took over all windowsills on this side of the house :) And yet, there is more to come...

Do something nice for your mom   :halo:
Then the chilis won't seem like such a big deal  ;)
They are not a big deal, she just wants to have some flowers there, but since this are small seedlings, they have priority (and my avocado plant) . She started her own peppers now, not the hot ones. She cant stand any heat. I'll try to do something for her, i haven't done that for quite some time since im fully busy with college at the moment.

Now i wish i would plant some other type of peppers, like aji lemon, rocottos or scotch bonnets. But since there will be so many plants, i think i need to resist this urge and wait for next year -.-.

Yesterday, I planted some Jalapeno seeds, since its not a bad idea to have a few milder peppers. I also transplanted NuMex Suave into individual cups, so there will be 6 of those plants. They even look a bit different. Their leaves are almost heart shaped and not so dark green. I also FIM-med 2 of tiger skin plants, to experiment a bit. All are already making some side shoots.

There is still a few choco and red habs that will need transplanting in 2 or 3 weeks. I presume there will be just over 100 plants in the end.

Wow, you are doing so well!

You mentioned "the Damjan ones, which were way too crowded and too tall" - you can plant them deeper, you know, up to the level of the seed leaves.  That can help if they have got leggy.

Where are you going to put all your 100 plants by April when they are getting big and bushy?  You definitely need to be very nice to your mum!
