I only lost two plants this summer during our extreme July/August heat as opposed to losing 75 last year due to root rot from over watering...

All my annuums are loaded with pods and the chinense are setting fruit to beat the band...there is no telling how many peppers I will have by the end of the season...Bhuts and Scorpions are taller than I am and absolutely loaded with fresh set fruit...

Impressive plants. You get a lot of production from the 5 gallon pots. Do you plan on going larger size next season? I'm currently experimenting with slotted 7 gallons. Still too early for me to make a judgment.
 
Man look at those plants and all those flowers! Your capsicum are just covered with flowers like the sky is littered with stars. Retirement seems to be really treating you well, been seeing a lot more smiles lately.:) It really looks like you are going to be swamped in pods in a month, your plants are monsters. Great chile gardening thanks for sharing the pics.:cool:

I may experiment with one more transplant next season...probably will go from a 5 gallon to a 7 gallon or maybe a couple of 10s...I have about twenty 25 gallon containers a friend gave me but have not used them yet...don't know what to use them for to be honest...maybe a few overwintered ones....

thanks Cappy...a lot of these plants are your seed stock...the closeup picture of the bhut is yours and the 7 pot setting fruit is yours too...

what I have learned in the last 10 years of pepper gardening is very simple....good soil + good nutrient regimen + good weather = great pod production....I really struggle in July/August just to keep the plants alive with the extreme heat we get here...

I was going to harvest today but we have had 8+ inches of rain over the past three days and I decided to wait until the plants dry out a bit...I have found that picking the pods when the plants are saturated causes a lot more limb breakage when I handle the plants...

Great looking plants AJ. I am just surprised to see how tall they got. I don't think mine have ever gotten that tall. It must be the differences in our climates.

thanks Chris...I have learned a lot from the forum over the past 2 years...I may have one more transplant next year to a 7 or 10 gallon from 5s to see if it makes any difference...

thanks Patrick...I am going to have to hurry to beat last year...I still need to pick almost 200 lbs to match last years total...

thanks tony...the Cappy 7s are very smooth and not dimpled or pimpled...a lot different than the brain strains, but the taste/heat is just as intense...I have three other Brain Strains growing that are doing quite well...

thanks cm...I am buying a lot of half pint (8oz/240ml) jars for concentrate/puree and the pressure cookers are set to go...

thanks Pf...you got to remember how much longer my grow season is than yours...these plants went into the greenhouse in March and then out in the real world in April...I hope I can overwinter a bunch this year...

None of the seeds he sent me have shot yet but if they do i will still grow them. Sounds like they were x polinated.

I still have my Trinnihottie 7 :)
