Do you do anything interesting in the Schwarzbier space? ...

I've never had one, and am interested in making one to try it - especially if I already have everything for doing so ...

ASK WHEEBZ -

When I bought the whirlpool arm I'm using my (10 gal) boil kettle going forward, it was one I'd planned to use in an single-vessel BIAB config in a 20 gal kettle that's obviously taller ...

I have a 10" whirlpool arm, which was going to place it nicely in terms of height in the 20 gal, but it means it's all the way down low in the 10 gal boil kettle, lower than the recommended 3" spacing off the bottom (which I think is probably based on 5-10 gal batches, and I'm doing 3-6 gal batches in this kettle) ...

I thought about it in advance, and then realized that it didn't need to stop me from doing the plumbing, but that I might have to buy a standard one (7" arm) in replacement so that it's 3" off the bottom ...

Do you think it'll probably work anyways, or should I just order the shorter one straight away? ...

I know I'll find out when I brew, and the only consequence is extra trub in the plate-chiller and fermenter, but I'm curious what you think will happen ... if the trub cone will be tighter to the center or not, since it's a pretty squat pot (wider than tall etc) ...

Thanks!

I dont think it will really matter

I cant see you having 3 inches of trub in your kettle, plus the whirlpool action will pull the trub away from the outside of the kettle anyways, so when you pump through your heat exchanger, you shouldnt get shit clogged in there

i'm thinking that since my kettle is more squat than tall, and oversized for my batch, that that will be the case ...

above all else, i don't need to have an usused one laying around taking space - so i'm not going to order a replacement unless there's a problem ...

This look about right?  Thinking about a 1/4 oz of coriander possibly too?

I grabbed a sack of the Barke Pils from Weyermann, and for multiple reasons I'd like to brew an exceedingly simple recipe tomorrow ...

I like Glacier, Northern Brewer, EKG, Willamette, Columbus, Pacifica, Amarillo, and kind of like Amarillo and Citra that I know of ... and don't like many, including some popular one's like Cascade, Mosaic, or Galaxy much so far ...

What's are some good choices in terms of yeast and hops to brew a nice beer that's not overly complicated, not big, and that highlights the pils malt? ...

Thanks ;)
