AZ noob : Diary of first grow.

Well after seeing Paul Ts videos of him eating supers I just had to try some so I ordered a mixed box from a US grower.

I did eat a whole bunch but I ended up dehydrating them...after removing the seeds from about 4-5 of each...which was painful...don't ask

I planted about 6 seeds and 4 came up...after about 2 weeks of growth I put the biggest one in a nice new Powergrower.

Here it is after ~90 days.

And at 100.

And at 110 with first flowers.

And lastly from yesterday at ~120 days with first pods.

I must say it has been an incredible journey so far... I just hope its getting enough sun for the pods to grow and ripen...time will tell.

Quick update...here is the Thai Demon 5 weeks in.

Another update on the Thai...week 6...it is beginning to pick up speed

So...is this a peach bhut?

The parent pods were a more peachy color if you know what I mean...does the peach turn orangey first then go full on peach color?

EDIT : Well after a bit of research I guess it is either an orange or yellow bhut I have...will see what the next few pods look like.

A little late but day 160 pics.
 
The monster bhut likes the LEDs and is pushing a steady stream of flowers and pod sets...have a minimum of 20 pods right now at various stages.
 

 
Pods #4 and #5 ripening...amazing how fast they turn...seems like start to finish is only 5-6 hours.

Got home from work and pods 6,7,8 & 9 are gettin it awn...nice!!!

After some more research I'm thinking it is either a Yellow Bih Jolokia or a Yellow Devils Tongue...anyone care to confirm?

Either way its all good as these little suckers are bitchin HOT but its hard to tell if they are 600,000 tongue's or 900,000 bih's.

Don't think they are flat enough to be tongue's though....*sigh*.

Moved it up to full strength nutes last w/e and seems to be liking it...i am getting some 'day time' leaf droop i think becuz of the fast growth...it picks back up over night.

Well I received at nice package from Buckeye Peppers this morning...looks like I finally scored some BG and some Jamaican Hot Chocs...nice.

Got room for 1 more in the current grow area before I upsize at 'end of season' around Xmas time.

I'm having some issues with leaf droop/margin down curl...suggests it's too much growth for root ball size/over feeding/over water...so a couple of days ago i reduced the nutes back to a half mix of ~500ppm + water and i turned the direct light off.
 
Hopefully it perks up as the roots catch up.

I wish i could but the 6x4 area i'm using will have to do for now...think this will work for 3 and maybe 4 max with aggressive trimming.

Just picked up some GH Rapidstart to see if I can get some more root growth to support the veggin.

Should see results in about a week.

With all the sun here in Aridzona, it seems a shame to limit your Pepper Mania to the grow closet!

I do...but its to hot...day time highs over 95 for the next 5 months!!!

Next season if I'm still into da peppers I've got a 15x10 out building that just needs AC and power...should make 8-10 plants very happy...that will be at new years.

Day 170 on the grow that got me started.

I'm having to semi aggressively trim the canopy to keep it in the 3x4 space I've alotted for her.

Took all the lower ripe pods off which makes 18 so far.

Here she is just after a fresh trim.

The next chinense variety I would trim more aggressive at the start to try and keep it in a 2x2...wouldn't be easy though!

Still pushing a steady stream of flowers and new pods...the mist into the flowers technic with PH adjusted water seems to be working OK for me...it does not set 100% or even 50% but maybe 25% but this is better than the 0% I was getting.

And a quick update on the Thai...seems to have recovered from the leaf curl...still getting some daytime drool but I think this is from aggressive growth.

Just finished my res setup...hassle free plants for a week???

8G controller on bottom and 13G feeder on top...but only have one 2.5G jug in the top to see how it runs.

Going to leave the 2014 grow list as is and just enjoying eating the medium heat thai demon and jamaican mushrooms like candy...as the jolokia is not!

Will hook these up to the res once they are ready for the bloom nutes and ditch the dirt spares.

Well it looks like THP had a server glitch and lost the posts from SAT morning so here we go...

A quick update on the youngster's.

Big progress with the Thai at week 9 the side shoots are now emerging out from the main leaf spread and the top has crowned which I was not expecting.

It now has buds on two tiers and IMO the right size to move over to the bloom mix which I will do today by tying it in to the res loop.

The mushroom during week 2 has also be busy setting its first pair of true leaves...it will most likely have a couple more quiet weeks before it takes off.

As a side note I put this under a main 240W led just one week after it sprouted and it worked out great....no issues.
