AZ noob : Diary of first grow.

Well after seeing Paul Ts videos of him eating supers I just had to try some so I ordered a mixed box from a US grower.

I did eat a whole bunch but I ended up dehydrating them...after removing the seeds from about 4-5 of each...which was painful...don't ask :)

I planted about 6 seeds and 4 came up...after about 2 weeks of growth I put the biggest one in a nice new Powergrower.

Here it is after ~90 days.

I must say it has been an incredible journey so far... I just hope its getting enough sun for the pods to grow and ripen...time will tell.

Time for the weekly update again.

Had to go caveman on the jolokia after this pic and I removed a lot of non pod bearing branches, got her almost down to 3x3.

The res setup seems to be working well as I only need to do the 1.5 hour flush and fill at the w/e and that's it.

Bought a nice 2L pump mister to help with the pollination but for the lack of sets since last week has got me thinking its lacking the power of the hand pump so I will be going back to that.

The Thai is doing well...I must say the flowers are massive compared to the jolokia.

The flower has started to crumple today guess we'll see if she set shortly.

Last but not least the mushroom has made steady progress this week...once the true leaves expand it should take off.

A late update from the weekend.
 
Everything is going well with the hydro grow, tons of grow, lots of flowers but alias few sets.
 
Have gone back to the wet paint brush to see if i can salvage some of the losses.
 
Jolokia coming up to 7 months.

The thai has grown another 6 or more inches in the week.
 
It didn't set the first 3 flowers but we'll see what the next 4 bring.

And the mushroom is happy to be on the res loop with full strength BLOOM nutes...IMHO i don't think you need to use the MAXI GROW...the BLOOM seems to work just fine.

AN indoor grow just has to be a challenge. I'm impressed with how things look here.

Not this 'season' maybe to an 8 pot system in the new year...just have to see if the Thai and mushroom keep the buzz going for me...I expect they will.

Looks like my Thai's are less than a month out now....yum yum :D
 
Update on the indoor chili forest.

Here's the big picture...i'm contemplating cutting the jolokia back to just a trunk with a few branches...its current size is a bit problematic.

I've also got these marks on most of the older leaves...i think it's nute burn or some over\under deficiency of some kind...doesn't seem to stop it from growing and i only get one yellow dropper a week.

The Thai is doing well for week 13 it must have a dozen sets already...seems to pollinate itself half the time and the other half it just needs a quick dab with the paint brush.

Great shot!  I've got a dropcam for my DWC, so when I get that going, I'll post a link for all to see.
 
That's a pretty extensive 'haircut' the bhut got.  did you trim the roots as well?

Yeah i cut the main root ball in half horizontally but i'm probably going to go back in next w/e and take it off completely to just leave the roots coming out the bottom (vertical).

I did it it stages to see how much abuse it would take (first time for me).

Turns out it has sprouted all new shouts at all the joints and should be well under way again in a week or two...that said it has set some leftover flowers already :D

That's gonna be one awesome production factory, within that 6 x 4 area.  I'm quite surprised that the plant can take the abuse, from cutting the root ball.  It leads me to believe that It will keep churning and re-establishing the root mass, whether you like it or not, haha.

Don't know is the short answer...thought i planted peach bhut's but it looks like they are either a yellow or orange variant of the bih jolokia or monkey face...got some pods from Judie at Pepperlovers but as a noob i didn't label them very well :(
