Back out!

I wasn't doing anything except adding a row of string to my Florida Weave. But a precisely wrong movement told me instantly that I had messed up my back. This was on Sunday evening. Since then, it has been two steps forward, and and a half backward. I had to deliver papers yesterday and my truck is a four-speed. Every time I would press on the clutch, it was time for a pain to shoot throughout my back.

After about eight beers yesterday evening, I was feeling much better. And today wasn't bad, but I had more papers I needed to deliver, and by the time I was done, I was feeling almost as bad as yesterday.

This sucks, not so much because of the pain - I can pretty much deal with it, but that I need to be working in the garden, weaving more plants and cutting weeds!

Something similar happened about 15 years ago - I was walking into the house, coughed and the next thing I felt was a sincere and monumental pain. Thankfully, it muscle, not bone or spine so it's not chronic or progressive. But it is darn uncomfortable.

That sucks man. Especially since, as you pointed out, it is that time of the year when the garden needs tending to. But anyway, just take it easy so you don't make things worse. Feel better....

I am sorry to hear that. Is there someone to help you with the plants?

I have a couple of adult kids who could, but don't! All they want to do is to eat the produce. But I managed to take care of three rows this evening - sat on my butt and motored up and down the rows, pulling weeds as I went. Not pretty, but effective! Drinking a bunch of beer before I started didn't hurt my efforts!

The rule is, if you don't contribute you don't eat ad you get thrown out on your butt or bhut! My parent's would not let us get away with antyhing!

Ouch! sore backs are the worst!, But those Epsom Salt we all use in our garden works wonders on a sore back in a bathtub.
Good luck with it!

a back out in that fashion usually has some bones out of place. sounds a lot like my back pain. It would seem to get better but them worse with each new "injury" until I was in almost constant dull pain and most steps sent shooting pain down my right leg. A good chiropractor can fix that, the sooner the better. if chirpractors are not something you would visit, osteopaths are also skilled at heaing this.

Actually it sounds more like a disk has slipped a little. When this happens the disk will press against the nerves running along the spine causing pain to "shoot" down your legs or arms or back depending upon what disk is doing the pushing. 95% of the time they will go back on their own and you're fine. The other five percent you end up having a discectomy. That's when they remove the part of the disk that is applying pressure to the nerves. It's pretty common anymore and you can be out of the hospital quickly.

First thing to do is ice it. Ice it until the area feels like a piece of dead meat. I'm talking a bag of ice on your back for a couple of hours. Do that three or four times a day. Good luck
