Jeez. The perfect storm. If this works, I'm a genius.
If it doesn't, I'm still pretty close to genius, but I've been drinking a little bit.

And I'm short on time. Coals are HOPEFULLY heating right now.

For his awesome experiment, Sum had to take back his chimney starter that I have possessed for the last few years. It's good, it's his. Respect.

Didn't have time to get a new one, so I MADE one out of 2 disposable turkey pans. we'll see what happens.

Teaser shows my homemade creamy mashed potatoes, cheddar, chives, dill, bacon (medium well for now, finish on the pizza), sour cream and Hawaiian birds for the topper.

Yep, I'm making Skins.

Gonna be good!

POL is on the cheddar.

The pizza bomb has gone off...

These cheezers are ridiculous. I know which is getting my vote.

Anyway with that said. Is there a vote? Who makes the final decision?

Yes, there is a vote. THP will post a separate Vote! thread after the TD closes - either later tonight or some time tomorrow. Be looking for it!

Salsalady's Failed Campout Wildfire Pizza

We had great intentions of doing pizzas at the NWCF this last weekend, but Chile Juju forgot her dough in the freezer, and I got too busy having fun. Over the weekend, a thunderstorm lit up our whole region with wildfires, and we're watching 2 of them right now from our house.

Well, anyway, back at the chilefest, I'd already done enough cooking so the pizza was going to be the easiest thing I could come up with. So, Here it is!

Directions-
start the grill and get it hot
open the packages
spread out the dough, pre-bake a little on the grill
splooge on the pizza sauce
cheese it and pepperoni it
bake it
splooge on some more sauce, in this case, some of Jerret's 4-pepper sauce

ENJOY!

I JayTeed this one folks - sorry! haha I had great intentions, but no dō, no do! :)

Today's been too windy to deal with grilling, and SL distracted me with leftover biscuits & gravy..... :onfire:

But I'm totally loving these entries!
Time's running out!
Who else is in this puppy???????

Holy crap, it worked!!! AMAZING!!!
Uploading now. I'll make it in time, barring a solar flare.

So my inspiration was a potato skin appetizer.
I hate potato skin appetizers.
Too much potato. Screw that. But I'm in favor of all that goes into it.
Made a pizza with the BEST parts, but used homemade creamy buttery mashed potatoes.
Bacon, chives, hawaiian birds, cheddar, sour cream. What's not to love! I even threw in some fresh dill, so there!
Had to rig a charcoal chimney, but it worked (one time use, it f**king melted once all the coals were red).
Slapped a pizza stone on the weber, cooked to perfection.
Went to my mommas house, woke her up, and slapped her across the face, it was that good!

Proof the rig worked...
IMGP2760.jpg

Dough with a little olive oil and fresh dill
IMGP2761.jpg

Used a melon baller (wankey) to place the mashed potatoes
IMGP2762.jpg

Topped with bacon, cheddar, and fresh hawaiian birds
IMGP2763.jpg

Cooked over hot coals on the stone...OUTDOORS!!!!
IMGP2764.jpg

When it came out, added fresh chives. Sour cream went on on a slice-by-slice basis

Eat my wiener, TGI Fridays!
IMGP2768.jpg

...I mean it.

By the way, after arriving at the state park on Friday, we realized there weren't no interwebz, and we didn't even know the PoL, as we'd hit the road before 9:00am. Scovie had FryDad's phone number so we called him on the one cell phone that had one bar, and he told us the PoL.

Thanks, FD4!!!!

Just had 2 D8 Cats go by the house, headed up Texas Creek to work on the fire.

JayT was going to enter, but saw my pizza got scared and ran. Now he's with Bear, that guy, cowering behind him in fear of my pizza's awesomeness.

MISSED YA JAY! WHAT UP?

Um party's over now Aaron, come back from your drunken stuporness . I did enter... As far as Bear That Guy, he has not been seen lately. I think he may have headed north to New England. He may be peaking in Marcie's windows as we speak. He just loves moms. That guy.

Oh yeah, very cool idea FD.

Frydad's Loaded Pizza Skins

Used the same dough Sum used, read his ingredients, love his pics, and then vote for me.

Mashed potatoes were boiled yukon golds, butter, sour cream, and salt, whipped into a frenzy.

Dough rolled thin, topped with olive oil and fresh dill. Topped with melon-balled mashed potatoes.
Followed by cheddar cheese, bacon, and home grown Hawaiian bird chilies.

Cooked on a stone over coals in my weber kettle.

Whence it came out, topped with fresh chives, sour cream, and a touch of cayenne powder.

Crust was crispy on the bottom, but chewy and tasty throughout. It held up to the weight of the potato and toppings!

Slap this on a menu somewhere. It was great. Would make an EXCELLENT appetizer somewhere!

The gooey slice
