Be nice to yourself ... go home and brew a 5G NEIPA ... inside, with 'comforts' ...
Lol, for sure! I should have shown up at 7 AM. I was already awake, and doing stuff around my house to kill time, since I figured 8 AM would be perfect. I'm seeing license plates from all over the NE in the lot here at the brewery, so people must have made an overnight/super early morning trek to get here.

Going to lose the DDH Pico Pale, or at least, have to drink it fast until it's no bueno ...

Loose dry hop clog issues for not using a hop cage or nut milk bag or stocking etc ...

Spear clogged first, then poppet, and then I changed to ClearBeer pickup but there was mad hops up top, too - so it instantly clogged the poppet AGAIN ...

Only move is siphon from middle-height in the liquid column, but meh ...

Tastes great right now, too ... but it took on oxygen today for sure =/

Kitchen's immaculate ...

Back to this ...

This tasted *EXCELLENT* yesterday, with all the layered dry hopping ... so I'm sitting here thinking about how to save it, so I can pound on it until it either kicks, or stales out ...

I can't think of many choices if I can't use a spear, or the ClearBeer ...

Can't push it out with gas ...

Can't pour it through a straining funnel - because I've done it with finished beer a bunch of times and it ruins them (muchos oxygenos, lol) ...

I could autominisiphon, but it would be having having oxygen the whole time it transfers (slowly) via siphon ...

I could try to make a filter for the end of a spear, but it would take a long time to change the poppet and I'd have to open the main lid for part of it (again, again) ... and I think it would clog.

There's like 4oz hops worth of solids in this 3 gal keg, with like 2-2.5 gal beer ... and some's on the bottom of the keg (the Mandarina), and a bunch is on top (the EXP Lemon Zest) ...

Now I'm thinking - maybe I can put a hop-designed filter bag over the ClearBeer floating pick-up ......................................

Hmmmm ... then maybe BeerGun some bottles ...

I think the filter mesh and bottle gun option sounds the best. I have a fine mesh filter bag that I use for such occasions, where I super aggressively dry hop, and while racking the trub gets disturbed. It works well. I just wrap the bag around the end of the hose, and rack as mormal.

Yeah ... I'm having the rest of my coffee and preparing myself mentally for the high-stakes, high-pressure drama of trying to change out hardware on a keg in a hurry ...

Sliced the flesh of the top of 1.5 knuckles last night when replacing the ClearBeer ... only to have it insta-clog the poppet ...

There's hop debris everything in there - top and bottom ...

I don't want to change anything that requires the keg to be open for a wrenching twice ...

I think I'll just pre-prepare another ClearBeer pick-up with a nylon bag around it, and fasten it with a small worm clamp ...

Our floss is flavored, a garbage tie would likely rust instantly and rust has an uber-low detection threshold as an off-flavor ...

Operation Save the DDH Pico Pale.

Waiting in line for hours sounds easier.
