This tastes like an open can of root beer... not in a bad way... still tastes like stout, but has that syrupy left open root beer taste in the background...

Yeah, an open can of root beer is an interesting flavor to come from a stout. Maybe it's the coconut that contributes to that.
It's less smoky than the previous batch I had, long time ago... this one has the coconut but it's not in the front. It's definitely got that semi-flat root beer/dr.pepper thing going on. I don't drink soda anymore so can't quite pin it but it's there.
another one from my local brewer. this one they claim is like beer was a couple of hundred years ago. not as hoppy as an IPA and almost as dark as a stout. not bad.
am i the only one drinking beers on xmas eve or did i start too early?
