Best vocalist ever? Are they high?

Cruzzfish, I think that is what turns me off the most about GNR. Another era vocalist that I believe tops him is Sebastian Bach. He had a set of pipes on him!

Props to the Steve Perry vocals! That man could belt it!

I noticed someone mention SRV. Now there is someone who I respect a lot. Definitely no Satriani, Vai or Loomis as far as technical abilities, but he was the man when it came to blues playing and he could make those bends sound a mile thick. Seriously, how thick was his tone?! Massive! His vocals fit so well as well. That raw, emotional gruffness to it. If you ever watch a live video of him playing, he was putting his heart and soul into every note. You can see it in his expressions. He made that Strat his b***h!

Eh, influential and pioneers for sure, but they don't have anything on Steve Vai, Jeff Loomis, Joe Satriani or John Petrucci (guitar) or Danny Carey, Blake Richardson, Bran Dailor or Mike Portnoy (drums).

Anyone else irritated by Axl Rose's whiny, nasal-y, smoked too many cigarettes vocals?

I sure am the negative nancy in this thread...  :mope:
you forgot one.... The Atomic Clock,  Gene " the Man " Hoglan.

just some more Fuel for the fire!     :fireball:      Carry on

Absolutely! As Bonnie Raitt said, " He was the most fiery bluesman I ever saw." I agree. Stevie poured his soul into his playing and there are very few great guitarists who can do that.

and I do admit, I like Freddie Mercury......

How about the late Brad Delp of Boston? A fantastic voice and range.

THIS! Brad Delp used to also sing in a Beatles cover band in my area called Beatlejuice. Luckily I was fortunate enough to see them a few times before Brad was gone......

How sad when great musicians take their own life like Brad Delp did from severe depression.
One of my absolute favorite guitarists growing up was Ronnie Montrose and he too took his own life in a severely depressed state as well. :(
Depression sucks!
