Bhut growlog.....

Whats up guys! All is well, they have been flowering up a storm, but I dont see any fruit set as of yet. The leaves have been pretty yellow for some time now, a good month. After top dressing with two tablespoons each of tomato tone and a very strong watering of neptunes fish seaweed the yellowing remains. Pretty weird, usually they green right up after a watering like that. I put four tablespoons of the fish seaweed 2-3-1 and one tablespoon of alaskan fish emulsion in one gallon of water... then spread that through to all nine plants. I wonder if its the pine bark I put in the soil mix, Ive read that it locks up nitrogen, thats why I added the fish emulsion in there to up the N. After a top dressing with tomato tone on the last watering, and the next watering being that potent mix of fish seaweed and fish emulsion... they should have gotten green I would say.

Either way here they are, a few of the flowers look like they are trying to set fruit ... but I dont actually see any forming as of yet. Then again, Ive been pretty busy and havent looked all that closely there may be some forming in there somewhere.

Thanks guys, ya there's four or five more pods forming and I'm guessing more soon to follow. I've been watering with Neptune's fish/seaweed 2-3-1

Same thing happened w/ my first plant this season. I was a little upset because I couldn't see any pods then a couple days later I found a full grown pod that I had thought was just a leaf.

Pine bark can be pretty acidic which doesnt help with the uptake of nutrients. Have you tested PH.?

I've got a bunch of seedlings around 3" tall that are yellowing. I gave them a hit of epsom salts and watered that in with fish emulsion, they are growing steadily but are not anywhere near as green as my large plants.

If you find a solution or at least the cause for your problem let us know.
I'll also post my results.

I have not tested the PH of the soil in my pots.

I have not tested the PH, I dont have a PH pen or anything like that as of now. I need to get one, but havent as of yet. They seem to be doing better Ive been watering with the fish/seaweed every watering. They are still growing vertically and starting to get decent sized in my tent. Ill get some pics up soon, I have a feeling these pods are just a few early fruits and Im hoping the plants will really start to fruit soon. I have a feeling they are getting close. Ill keep everyone updated for sure.

Thanks! I still gotta say IMO the topping was a no-no.... they are starting to all bud but are still very small as far as Im concerned. Im going to give them a few more months and see how much more growth I can get out of them but I might end up transplanting like 6 into 5 gallon buckets. Maybe Ill just start hitting them with high N to delay fruitset.
How many nodes does one go up before topping? 5, 10?

I think most recommend at least 3 nodes before topping. Although I topped these at around 5 if I remember correctly.

Heres some updated pics.

Im not sure what kind they are to be honest. Here is a pic of a plant from the same stash of seeds though. For what its worth. The guy that gave me these seeds posted a thread calling the plants he was working with bih jolokia rather than bhut jolokia. However, he did not say these were Bih when he sent them, he said Bhut, but maybe the seeds he sent me are Bih sicne I know he was working with them. Of course, I cant be sure of that he sent me these seeds a year or two after he posted those threads so who knows.

Im all ears if any experts have any opinions though. Anyone??

They look like my bhuts from last season which they produced 100 pods each, 5 reds and 5 chocs. I do miss them.
lol

I find it really hard to top healthy growing plants. It's like thinning out seedlings... feels like a cruel waste of a good plant.

Does the yield of pods go up if you top them or do you have to do it because you have limited space?

What a great thread, that back row has really taken off. looking forward to seeing those babies turn red! much karma
