I started my seeds in early February and continued starting seeds until April...just couldn't stop starting new varieties...again. I always take the cheap route and use plain old Miracle-Gro potting soil. It has always worked for me. I also start my seeds in paper towels then transfer them straight to 4 inch pots (I thought they were 3 inch, but they're 4). I use a 125w CFL for lighting and I usually grow around 30 plants. Here's the beginning.

I had crappy soil before this pic and some of these are bare-root transplants. But I did lose one...Chocolate Primo. It just looked funky after transplant.

Here they were just before plant out. Pic taken on May 4...with the addition of a few new seedlings and maters.

Peppers planted out May 10.

Then I ran into the bugs. The flippin' bugs. Judging by the damage, I'm guessing broad mites.

But I soaped then neemed a couple times and things are looking up. I'll have to get a pic of what that plant (Goatsweed) looks like now. This is the latest pic with the addition of the nursery veggies.

That'll probably do it for now. Thanks for stopping by!

nice haul Adam

those Bubblegum Pumpkins are gorgeous !

How do you like those chacoense ? (tiny little firecrackers of heat!?) They are a little bit more pointed looking/less round than the chacoense i am growing from Pepperlover.
Thank you, GIP! I havent tried the Bubblegum Punpkins yet, but Im pretty excited to do so. The Chacoense are frickin hot! They are prickly/stingy on the tongue and I was surprised at the throat burn/pain that these suckers provide. Im not sure of the origin of this particular strain, but I got my seeds from Wicked Mike.

Not to sound like a broken record, but hell yeah! A spectacular year buddy!
Thank you very much, Scott! Im pretty happy with the ending of this season, except for the fact that the plants know that its fall. Im losing a lot of leaves. But it makes harvesting easier. Lol.

Im just gonna go on the record here and say that Im definitely writing all of my apostrophes, theyre just not posting. I just updated my phone to iOS 11 and things are still screwy.

Saaweet! What are you going to do with all that heat?

I've been there, a few years ago. I think I fried all of Devine, Tejas that year
Ive been drying most of them, eating some, gonna freeze a few, gave some away and Id give more away if I had the shipping. I cant give them away around here, so I have to pepper-bomb THP members mail boxes. Lol.

You are really hauling them up n now. And probably mostly safe into the middle of October. Hopefully!
It was 92 here today. Back into the mid 60's later this week though.
Let see some pics of theirs dehydrator working over time. Do you have family in the house?
You have so many you should be dropping random peppers in the Hab box in the produce section

It was 92° today here as well. What Im really hoping for is this warm spell to help out my first try at air layering. I tried it on three plants. Checked one after a week and nothing yet. So I wrapped it back up and now Im waiting until Wednesday or so to check again. Its been two weeks so far.
I do have other family members in the house and I hear a lot of complaints about the Stinky peppers that are drying. Mainly my gf. She hates the chinense smell. Especially scorpions. Any floral pepper she hates.
Heres a pic of a couple trays whats drying right now. A little of this, a little of that. Ill take more pics tomorrow.

It's refreshing to know that I'm not the only one who's thought about doing that! Hahaha, I was SO CLOSE to dropping a couple of Chocolate Bhutlahs into the bin at the grocery store last week! I've always wanted to do that

You're not alone, brother! My wife's got a nose like a bloodhound! If I cut open a superhot down in the kitchen, she can smell it from the upstairs bedroom ;) I've been reduced to chopping everything up when I'm home alone :mope:

Just a little update on my first air layering attempt. Its been 20 days since I did the CPR. I air layered three plants. I checked the CPR after one week, but it was cold that week and of course there were no roots. So I put it back together. We then have just had a heat spell of around 90°F for a week and a half or so. Today is cooler and the next week will be low 60s for highs and low 40s for lows. So today is the day. I checked the CPR and there is some bulging around the base of where I scored it...but no roots. Im assuming these are either the beginning of roots or callousing that Ive heard of. Either way, I clipped it off and planted that one. So I then checked my Caramel Cinder plant. Here are a couple pics of the bulging and maybe roots that Im talking about. Sorry the pics suck.

I planted that one, also. I really dont know if these will work, but Ill try anyway. Ill just have to keep bringing them in.

Ive also been cutting and dehydrating. Here are some Jays Peach, Reapers and 7 Pot Caramel, and 2 trays of Cinders...both Caramel and Chocolate.

Nice. Try not going so deep when you score the plant next time. Dehydrator is looking full! I got mine going as we speak!
Thanks for the tip, Rich! I was kinda leery about these taking once clipped because of the lack of roots, but being in the dirt for a few days in the windowsill, you can see the leaves aim towards the window and no drooping.
